I'd call Pixies 80s. One of my favorites by the way. I have all their studio albums.

By the way................your #32, Love Spit Love, Am I Wrong is probably my favorite 90's song. Saw Psych Furs a few years ago. What an amazing voice on Richard Butler.

Good fucking call, man! I really dig the version of Am I Wrong on the Angus soundtrack with the marching band... whoever did that composition is a genius. Great, great fucking song! +1
Swervedriver kicks ass, too... I saw them open for the Pumpkins many years ago... every band I've ever started has been based around trying to capture their sound.

Re: 90's Alt Rock
Oasis is one of my favorite bands, but I'll refrain from flooding this thread with Oasis videos.
Blind Melon, good call there. I've only ever heard their debut album, but I quite enjoy that.
To mention one I don't think I've seen in this thread yet, I'll throw out Pulp. I'm not super familiar with their stuff, but I generally like what I've heard.

Re: 90's Alt Rock
Mudhoney, Frank Black, The Breeders, Screaming Trees, Dinosaur Jr., Pavement, Meatpuppets, Butthole Surfers, Tad (kinda cheezy, but I liked em), has anyone said Janes Addiction yet??? Violent Femmes..... MOTHERFUCKING BEASTIE BOYS!!!!!! R.E.M. Talking Heads...
I haven't reviewed this entire thread and committed it to memory, but most of those have not yet been mentioned, and I don't know how that could be.

I posted REM somewhere in there.... but post some vids of those mentioned, dawg!!!!
I was gonna post some Janes Addiction, but they had quite a ride in the 80's... I dunno... subjective and not that I would bite anyone's head off for including it.
Certainly would appreciate some Jane's Addiction in this thread... especially over Korn or some such bullshit.

Soundgarden!
I bought a couple Mother Love Bone disks back then but can't remember if they sucked or not, but it seems like I bought more than one so they must have been OK? Don't recall...
Oh, that reminds me, I should prolly give a shoutout to Flat, Black and Circular. I can't tell you how many used disks I bought from that dude while I was at MSU.

Flat, Black and Circular was freaking phenomenal. I would spend hours in there going through cd racks.
Also, your Mother Love Bone reference reminds me that the Temple of the Dog album was amazing. Cornell is one of, if not the, best rock vocalists of our generation.

In my mind INXS was really an 80's band. Both Listen Like Thieves and Kick came out in the 80's and that was, I think, their best work.

LMAO, I have been listening to Mother Love Bone since I posted it. It is cheesy as shit, but I love it.

A bit of a different scene from most of these, but Clutch is a favorite if mine and their self titled album is still one of my favorites that I listen to regularly.

Yeah, MLB still had some of that 80's glam rock feel to it. Definitely didn't have the same edge as the bands that came out if it (ie. Pearl Jam and Soundgarden).

They Might Be Giants
Suicidal Tendencies
Foo Fighters if they count.... Prolly too late. Not looking it up.

Any mention of Helmet always reminds me of these guys:
Re: 90's Alt Rock
So this thread started me listening to a bunch of Blind Melon. One of my favorite songs of theirs is St. Andrews Fall off of Soup. I think I like the song so much, at least in part, because of the story behind it and the way the song deliver's Shannon's feelings on the story (for those that don't know, apparently Blind Melon played St. Andrews Hall in Detroit for their tour for their first album and a girl committed suicide after the show by jumping from a building across the street from the theater). Well, I found this video of them in the studio recording that song and it is really good and figured I would post it here. One interesting point from the video is that at the time of recording the song was entitled Detroit Song/The Big Leap.
