The women were physically intimdated today. There were no easy buckets, no drives without contact and every shot they attemptd was challenged.
Rutgers was the tougher team and that got them the win.

Not a great road team. Probably because of youth.

Hollis said he made the decision and also is resigning from his position from the NCAA, per Fred Huemann on WLNS.

Yeah I like Tori too, I am borderline creepy age difference I think now for college girls. Unconfirmed on this however.

Team might be shook up about their coach. I'm not giving them an excuse. All of us have had worse, losing a loved one etc where we had to go to work and power through it, but it might have something to do with concentration and effort.
Does anyone even have a hint on why she's taken a leave besides fainting? Thoughts are with her.

Suzy was hospitalized again this past weekend in New Jersey after the Rutgers game. Similar symptoms that caused her the pass out. Apparently, the Doctors can't figure what is causing her issues and Hollis shut her down.

yep - read that she spent the night at a NJ hospital after the Rutgers game. I suspect there's a lot of testing, etc going on that takes time, possibly some travel - hence the leave of absence.
hope she's okay.

She had some comments somewhere about taking better care of her self and 20+ years of coaching catching up to her.

I'm honestly worried about Suzy. She's so freaking skinny and her face looks, I don't know, shrunken?
I hate to speculate but if my fears are what accurate, this shit is really bad for the heart. The added stress of coaching won't help.
Take care of yourself Suzy. Your health trumps basketball all day long.

That hadn't occurred to me as a possibility. I attributed her issues to stress, that's what got me. Since learning to manage my stress level I've done much better.

Shes always been very petite, and I can't imagine the stress of being a head coach at a major university sports team, a mom, wife, and all that shit. My speculation is food related but it was more along the lines of diet, hydration. Not sure if anyone is privy to that shit but her looks have not altered really in 10 years. Either way I hope shes recovering from whatever and will be back to 100%. 1st photo is from 2007 at her hiring, second is from late 2016

I would think you're right, you may be able to burn the candle at both ends when you're young, but it catches up eventually, especially if you're missing a few meals/hydration along the way.MattyFresh wrote:LooseGoose wrote:

Re: 2016/17 MSU Women's BB Official Thread
Merchant hopefully was wearing the heart monitor they gave her when her symptoms repeated at Rutgers.
She's in her mid-late 40's. Its not unheard of to have cardiac issues that never came to light because her good overall health never tipped off her doctor(s) to an underlying problem.
I had a 50 year old customer who had 3 kids, last one born when she was about 40 who ran 5-6 days a week and did 10k's and half marathons. She was getting ready for a Saturday AM run when she passed out in the house in front of two of her kids.
They called 911 and got her into hspital. She's alive 4 years later but they found a heart defect her doctors had never even looked for. She got a new valve but does her cardio at home with people around.
