"Michigan State removed the last shades of doubt about who will replace Connor Cook under center this season.

Head coach Mark Dantonio said Monday that Tyler O'Connor will start the season opener at quarterback.

Dantonio didn't rule out the possibility of another quarterback playing in some form this season. Senior Damion Terry and sophomore Brian Lewerke are competing for the No. 2 spot. Dantonio said that battle will continue this week in camp."

TOC is a better threat to run than Cook was, and I welcome that. Cook developed a confidence to throw the 50-50 balls with his receivers, and they were pretty adept at expecting them (including the back shoulder tosses).  I think that same chemistry and receiver skill will have a big impact on MSU's passing success this season. TOC's scrambling could be an equalizer in the early season.
