For fear of you getting sensitive and disappearing again, I'll attempt to engage you in a discussion about this (again)...

You don't think he plays good defense?

You don't think that's part of the game?

Some coaches pull guys for playing bad defense, so it seems to matter.

The fuck does Izzo know? I have out coached him plenty while in the stands or at home. Not that hard really.

By the way, he gets posted up by the opposing center all the time.

I love Cassius Winston's game offensively. But until he can show he can guard more than a pylon, Tum will continue to get minutes.

I don't think Nairn is great defensively but he does to a good job of keeping his man in front of him. Problem is most guards can still shoot over the top of him.

This just in: Izzo values defense. Even Mo Pete rode the pine until he decided to check somebody. In Izzo's words: Peterson couldn't guard a refrigerator.

You said it duff. Too small (bring on loyer? Wait wut?!) Does he average a decent amount of steals?

I think he said Tum Tum will continue to get minutes because of defense.

And that the Coach values defense.

Do you think Loyer is taller than Tum Tum? And can play better defense?

And are you moving on to next year already?

Miles Bridges looked up, cocked an eyebrow and said: “Look, Josh (Langford) isn’t a role player. He’s a star."

From the Athletic so a paywall...

Joshua Langford and the suspense of what might be

One year later, all those questions still hover. Nothing went as planned in Langford’s freshman year at Michigan State. He pulled a hamstring in preseason, derailed the whole thing. The 6-foot-5 guard played in all 35 games, but began the season out of shape and never looked like the sum of his parts. He put up 6.9 points in 21.0 minutes per game. For the first time in his life, he was average.

“Yes, I'm human, and there were some hard days,” he said this week. “I learned how to deal with adversity.”

Now that that’s over with, only the suspense remains. How good can Langford be and, more importantly, when?

If it’s now, Michigan State might just be the best team in America this season. Bridges is a sure-fire All-American. Cassius Winston is the top young point guard in the Big Ten. The Spartans’ frontline, anchored by Nick Ward, offers an embarrassment of riches. The last piece is a cold-blooded shooter. The last piece is a two-guard who keeps defenses honest. The last piece … is Langford. He’s the skeleton key.

Langford is going to have a good year.

As far as a cold-blooded shooter, that might be McQuaid.

CHICAGO -- Kay Felder was a small point guard at a small school, and despite putting up some big numbers hadn't yet gained much of a national profile a month into his junior season.
Then, he faced off with Michigan State.
With Valentine out, Felder took on the starring role. He scored 37 points in the game, helping the Golden Grizzlies force overtime before top-ranked Michigan State pulled out a 99-93 instant-classic game.
Felder woke up the next day with a national profile.
"It set everything off," Felder said on Thursday of the game. "After that game, my phone's blowing up, Instagram, all that. That Michigan State game did a lot for me."

I think we need to differentiate between "good" defense and better defense than anyone else to put there in Tom Izzo 's rotation.

I promise I'm not a salesman for the Athletic, but if Quinn keeps writing stuff like this the $30 a year will be a steal. I'm not going to copy more than "fair use" allows but he dropped a "notebook" with 13 of these tidbits in it this morning.

What we learned about Michigan State at Moneyball

Of course, Bridges made it worthwhile. The sophomore is, if anything, a showman, and he never cheated the crowd. The future NBA lottery pick went full-tilt in nine games — dunk after dunk after dunk — and averaged 37.3 points per outing. Along the way, he signed every autograph, posed for every picture and answered every question. When asked why he went all-out for a summer pro-am, Bridges simply said: “This is why I came back to school — for these fans and to win a national championship.”

Freed from the bulky brace that stanchioned his left knee, Kenny Goins suddenly looks like an athlete. The 6-foot-6 forward has some bounce and newfound lateral quickness.

Getting Winston ready for this season will end up the most important thing he has done.  And if he pulls it off it means he will have put himself on the bench for the sake of the team.

I know some here said they were going....Presale is underway......

Presale tickets available for LCA college doubleheader

Tickets for the first college basketball games at Little Caesars Arena will go on sale to the public Saturday, Aug. 19, but if you’re itching to secure your seats now, there are presale options.

At Ticketmaster.com, you can use the promo code “TITANS,” “GRIZZLIES,” “SPARTANS” or “WOLVERINES” to have access to tickets now. Then, you can either select a specific team’s available tickets or “standard availability.”

The games are scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 16, and one ticket gets you both games — the opener between Michigan and Detroit Mercy, and the second game between Michigan State and Oakland.

Game times haven’t been set, but 11 a.m. and 1 a.m., or noon and 2 p.m., seem likely, given the Lions play in Detroit later that afternoon.

Ticket prices range from $25 to $75, with upper levels $25, mezzanine $40, and lower levels between $55 and $75. VIP tickets ($150-$250) aren’t avalable for presale, nor are the student tickets, which will be $20.

Michigan and Detroit Mercy are playing the first college basketball game at LCA, just like they did in opening Joe Louis Arena in 1979.

Now get him a Bridges shirt and yourself a Swill sign, then you're ready for the game. ;-)

I honestly google Miles Bridges jersey probably once a week to see if they're for sale yet. I would buy one from Hong Kong but they're not the latest Nikes, the style is a couple of years old. Can't wait to get him a Miles jersey.
