So how does ESPN justify broadcasting an MSU game amid all the turmoil it created?

Actually, no. I'd just like to hear their justification.
I imagine it would go something like "innocent until proven guilty."

#2 team in the country doesn't even have 40 points yet, with 13 minutes left in the 2nd half. Can't imagine the hair pulling if this was Izzo.

Re: 2017/18 Hoops Thread - Unfinished Business.
Random thoughts.
It sounds like Miles got intense today. Demanded the ball in the huddle. I like that. His shot was sharp today, he made some really high difficult level jumpers with a hand in his face.
We have so many guys who can be difference makers and haven't shown well lately - JJJ, Ward, Langford. Not entirely their faults. Foul trouble, getting doubled, etc. It would be so lethal to get these 3 back in the flow.
I thought Winston had one of his best games of the year. I think Cassius is the absolute key to this team. He played great perimeter D, and he created. He was intent on creating. He's so good in the lane, with his hesitation dribbles and he has eyes in the back of his head. And if it's not there he can usually sneak a shot in. If Winston plays like this consistently this team can win it all.

Re: 2017/18 Hoops Thread - Unfinished Business.
Who’s No. 1?
If you’re wondering who will be the top-ranked team in the AP poll on Monday, the answer is fairly obvious: Michigan State will all but assuredly assume the position, thanks to losses by all three teams above it (Villanova, Virginia, Purdue) this week. But if you’re wondering who the best team in the country is, there’s even less clarity than there already has been in this roller-coaster season. The Wildcats, Cavaliers and Boilermakers are all still extremely solid teams that rode the top of the rankings for a month, but their vulnerabilities were on display in the last week. The Spartans are one of the country’s most balanced teams and have now won eight straight, but they aren’t without their own potentially fatal flaws at times—most notably taking care of the ball. Duke’s defense remains a major question mark, and so on. The only thing that seems certain right now is, that unlike many other years, there’s no clear favorite for the national title. This has been a wild, turbulent season so far, and it might wind up bringing one of the most unpredictable NCAA tournaments in recent memory.

I feel like they say that every year. No clear favorite. Wildest tourney ever. And then when there is a “clear favorite” they aren’t right anyway.

So, apparently State is #2
Virgina inexplicably moves up to #1 despite losing to an unranked team. Interesting.

I will not link, and am reluctant to admit I even looked, but the asshats at ESPN have State at #5 on their 'Power Rankings" behind #4, Purdue.
It's all just great bulletin board material for Izzo.

Nope, cuz another news cycle in the spotlight and more questions with not enough answers. Probably will drop us to a 7 seed actually.

Here's what I don't like about those saying he has to go answer questions. That's BS. They want to put him on trial. It won't just be answering questions, they want him to say that he fucked up. That he covered it up. I don't see how its anything but a lose lose situation. If he doesn't talk, the media roasts him for not talking. If he talks, but denies knowing about anything, they will say he doesn't have control of his team. If he says he was aware of some events, but not the specifics, they will say he was covering for his players. There is no way to come out of answering anything. Especially since Vitale is looking for accountability, or whatever.steveschneider wrote:So if Tom Izzo goes out and answers the fucking questions does that mean we move up in the polls?
Izzo is best waiting until after the season IMO, and even then I'm not sure what he can come out and say.

You're right. And I've reached the point where I just put it back on the people saying he needs to talk to the media.
For what?
For the sexual assaults.
The gymnastics ones?
No the basketball ones.
What basketball ones?
The ones he covered up.
Which ones were those?
Appling and Payne.
The ones that went to the DA and were all over MLive?
Well the Walton one then.
Which one was that?
Travis Walton.
From after Walton was off the team?
He was an assistant.
Where the victim's parents refused to go to the police?
Yes...
Tom Izzo covered up a sexual assault from a former player who was no longer on the team where the police never got involved?
Yes.
And scene.
