I don't love it but I don't necessarily hate it either. Our guards get a huge upgrade, Harris gets in the starting lineup but... that front line... we might get murdered on the boards.

Beard: Trading for Kyrie Irving too risky for Pistons

After reports circulated that Kyrie Irving is pressing the Cavaliers for a trade, the NBA rumor mill went into a frenzy with possible destinations.

Irving reportedly had a preferred list of teams where he wanted to go and as the days have passed, the Pistons were mentioned as a potential interested party. It’s an easy guess, given that about 24 other teams — save maybe the Warriors, Rockets, Wizards, Blazers and Raptors — who aren’t looking to add Irving.

Whether Pistons president Stan Van Gundy would be willing to give up a king’s ransom for Irving — reportedly three starters: Reggie Jackson, Andre Drummond and Stanley Johnson — for Irving and Tristan Thompson is a bit of a stretch.

I don't think I posted that specific one but maybe I did.....Beard just tweeted it out. He's been on twitter all morning arguing with fans about the trade. He's opposed to it. I'm sort of in the middle on it. It might be best because if Bradley/Irving both leave there would be no question about whether the Pistons needed to tank. In the meantime it would be a fun experiment to watch.

Someone out there is pushing the Gilbert trades Irving to the Pistons, sells the Cavs and buys the Pistons theory. Beard even acknowledged he'd heard something similar but dismissed it. If nothing else it keeps the Pistons in the news.

Goose I say go for it, give Bradley and Irving a chance to turn sub .500 into magic - magic they probably stay, they don't they leave and we tank. The pistons are in the worst spot in the NBA right now. Not good enough for top draft picks and not good enough to contend.

This is precisely right. Where is the upside? Stanley? Ellenson? Andre? Kennard? I just don't see the jump there from 7 or 8 seed to contender.
