We would certainly like a close knit family.

Re: Should I root for a boy or girl?
My boy was the happiest, content baby ever. Now he's almost 5 and a little hellion. Our daughter is the fussiest, most demanding little bundle of joy. She's 1.5 and is sure to be high maintenance her entire life given her personality.
So you can't win. Temperament as a baby is luck of the draw, and you're probably going to get 15 years of smh stories out of either one, just at different age ranges. Just root for health. And a better personality than dear old dad has.

I will bump this thread whenever I feel like you've been a bad parent.

You need to take a course in probability, champ. The sex if the child is considered an independent event. It's 50 percent every time.
Not really. There are familial trends that increase the probability of one sex or the other.

only root for health. I have two friends that rooted hard for boys ... both ended up with 3 girls.
I have 2 boys and a girl. The drama with the girls is hard to believe. Boys are easy in comparison ...my opinion. When they get older and need someone to take care of you ... that's when you'll need a girl. Boys will put you a old folks home quick.

Has that actually been proven? I thought "trends" in families were statistically insignificant when you look at a sample size big enough to actually indicate a pattern. So while 2-3 generations of mostly boys may seem like a lot to us, you might need 200 years worth of them to actually indicate a pattern. Sort of like flipping heads three times in a row and saying that's a pattern.

I'm just proud to learn you're married to a female.
All jokes aside, I wanted a boy pretty badly... But my daughter has been an absolute joy and has made me a better person. ( in real life).
Congrats in advance.

I know I answered already. Pray for healthy. My wife is due any day now and it's going to be a boy. 4 months ago he came back positive for downs. It's probably better than finding out he has autism or some other issue later on, but there was still a grieving process. We know there is a hole in the heart and there could be other health issues. My daughter, at 26 months knows basic colors, the alphabet, can count to 14 or 15(not always on order) and understand 2 languages to a degree.

There is nothing like a child, and nothing like being a parent. Best to you, your wife and family, we'll be in touch shortly.
And your daughter already speaks more languages than 98% of this board, congrats! Got my boy in the french program, he already speaks Spanish to go with English, my main goal is to know every insult in every language he learns (we're putting him in Mandarin later) so I know what he saids under his breath. Ditto my little dude.
