The first time I visited Africa, I was shocked at how separated the wealthy where from the poor, and there was almost no middle class. The wealthy all lived in gated, secure communities and lived a life completely apart from all others. Man, I was so glad the US was not at the level of such Third World corruption and moral bankruptcy.

Nobody cares

Someone who makes $5k USD per year is among the top 30% in the world. Someone who makes $25k is in the top 8%.

Elysium isn't about the mansions owned by the 1 percent...it's about the the poor around the world eying the what our "poor" in this country have.

What percentage of the world's wealth does the top 1% control? Isn't that the issue, rather than the fact that the 1% exists? Poor form and board choice, Bee.

The issue is that people blame their bad life on someone else and they take it out on those that make more money than them because they are easy targets.

I always have to laugh at people like you who feel so like they're so elite. Must be nice to live in ignorance and look at everything as it's in a vacuum.

I am also in the top 1%, but I am not so naive to think that I wasn't helped immensely along the way. Had my parents not split the college bill for me, I'm not sure I could've afforded MSU. I am eternally grateful for their help so that I could go to school and realize my dreams.

I also realize that unfortunately not everyone gets these same privileges that I did. Therefore, I am able to view things from multiple perspectives and not view those less fortunate as evil like you and the OP.

Real wealth is always about reserves. If you can pay your bills for a few years without income, you sleep well, no matter the income. If you trade days for dollars, and need that next pay check, you'll never sleep well.

Me elite? You're the one who professes to have been born with a silver spoon in his mouth. I work my ass off for everythng I have, which is still isn't by any means elite. There are so many women in this Country cranking out babies for the sole purpose of receiving state assistance, and so many dudes who knock them up and then refuse to work or support them, it's pathetic. You may admire that culture, but I believe it's driving this Country into the ground.

My comfortable life is slightly less comfortable because of those damn welfare babies. This country is fucked!

Umm, you can be upset about anything you want. Some people yell at clouds. But don't point at the rich as being the problem when you are wealthier than 99% of the rest of the world yourself.

Sorry chief but my parents were both public school teachers so I was very much middle class. I worked full time throughout high school and college to afford anything extra I wanted.

It seems after reading the rest of your post though that sweeping generalizations are more your style so I am probably wasting my breath here.
