He does (now) have the option to unsubscribe. If he clicks on Usergroups, then clicks on Gerousia, he will see this message:

"You are a member of this group [Unsubscribe]"

He can then unsubscribe and resign his membership (as he stated he would like to do, but failed to follow the proper protocol to accomplish). By failing to unsubscribe, he clearly indicates that he does in fact want to be a member of this distinguished forum (despite his comments to the contrary).
