I really like DD but I had to laugh. I was running up to the store and had the game on earlier. I think it was the 2nd inning. He and ol marblemouth were raving about JZ and how this start and his past few start are the real JZ and this was the guy the Tigers thought they were getting when they signed him to that terrible contract. He throws strikes, that slider, blah blah blah. Got out of the store and it was 5-5. Maybe wait until like the 7th inning or so before your next bold proclamation guys.

Yep, it's about getting things manageable so they can add that key piece again in free agency in a year or two. I'm just not sold on Avila being the guy to make the decisions

I think they're just trying to debate salary splitting. The more the Astros need him, and the better JV looks, the more the Astros will pay for him.

Fuck it, I hope the Tigers take on a huge chunk of it if the tradeoff is more/better prospects. Not my money. I know being over the threshold can have impact on International player pool $, etc but they can find other ways to dump salary. Get more talent in the system.
