I am happy the NRA has done their job allowing this previously law abiding American the ability to acquire over 30 weapons, 1000's of rounds of ammunition, extended magazines and devices to make his semi-automatics operate as full automatic rifles.

The were protecting his rights. In this case he decided it was within his rights to attempt to kill as many people as possible.

Meanwhile the NRA leadership has donned their invisibility cloaks again like they do after every mass shooting.

When you vote in 2018 remember everytime you vote for a political candidate with 100% NRA endorsement you are enabling legislators to sit on their hands and do nothing.

Like the mechanic Hear and Now interviewed. He's home in CA recovering after being shot in the elbow trying to work things out with his boss. Best case he's out 6-8 weeks with therapy. Worst case he can't continue and needs one or more surgeries to repair his elbow.

NRA doesn’t get much support from the small businesses that manufacture items like Bump Stocks or trigger cranks or specialized machined replacement parts to make your weapon purchased as semi-automatic act like or become a fully automatic weapon. (the latter being outlawed for sale for over 3 decades)

Let’s see if the NRA stops objecting to limiting magazines to 10 or 15 shots.

What I want to believe, though I know it's highly unlikely, is that Trump has quietly sent word To GOP Congressional leaders and LaPierre that he intends to do something, and that he expects them to get on board and be a part of the solution or prepare for a fight. Obviously, the chances of that are smaller than Bee's dick.

be it drugs, alcohol, gambling, etc. addiction is a brain disorder. There is little evidence that addiction alone would constitute mental illness. It can alter brain chemistry, however, which would then potentially cross over into a mental illness paradigm.

haven't read that much about this guy but I don't think that a gambling addiction in and of itself would lead someone down the path of mass murder absent other contributing factors.

I think the mental health angle is a copout at this point. The GOP isn't going to do shit about mental health issues. Then as soon as you say we should cross reference what drugs they are on, or however you want to do it, then the government is watching everyone to see who's mentally fit. Either way, I have a bad argument, but blame it on mental health, then if democrats try to move that way, start screaming about big government getting into your personal life and nothing happens. Checkmate NRA. BTW getting rid of this rigged system to turn a semi automatic into a fully automatic, is such a niche in the market, that the manufacturer's don't care and they are sacrificing a mosquito in order to keep the population happy.
