Good info, so what were their individual votes? Was it a case of them using their votes for Ted Simmons instead of Lou, for example? I have no idea how it works, like vote for not more than 2 of the X candidates?

After discussion, each voter can list up to 4 names.

Thanks. So that sort of makes it even worse than 6/16. More like 6/64.

They don't have to vote for 4.

12 (or more) of the 16 have to approve. 75%

Putting this here since I doubt there’s a ‘20 Tigers’ thread yet. Besides, all teams are affected by this uniform alteration, not just the most beautiful uniform in all of professional sports for all time.

Detroit Tigers will have Nike swoosh on front of home uniforms in 2020

I'm old enough to remember when Nike first started appearing on college uniforms and how dumb UofM fans thought they were so superior because they were one of the small amount of teams with the logo. I remember the Penn State hats with the nike swoosh were popular on campus.

It was going to be an Under Armour logo on the front, but they backed out of the deal. Nike stepped in.

Jerseys will be made by Fanatics (which bought out Majestic). So, same jerseys...just with a swoosh and probably more expensive.

Tried to buy a new tigers hat when I was back in Michigan. I don’t like fitted, don’t like the big D logo and don’t like the look of the logo on the side of the hat. Had no luck. Fuck corporate logos.

Heh, I actually saw that old logo on one of the hats. Also, should note given the piss poor performance of the team the sales probably aren't so hot and a reason why the merch section was poorly stocked.

It will be difficult to find a hat that doesn't have the New Era flag, "47", or a swoosh on the side.

This one has a kitty though:

True story I was gifted one with a Nike swoosh on the side. I used a girl friends seam ripper to carefully remove it. Took a while but I got it out. Why? I used to have strong opinions about Nikes sweat shops and I have a bleeding heart.

ESPN: MLB considering playoff expansion

Seems dumb to me. If almost half the teams make the playoffs, doesn't that kind of disincentivize people from watching the long and increasingly pointless regular season?

Probably. But I do like the thought of some team picking their opponent for the first round. LOL, talk about creating bad blood. "Oh, you mother fuckers think we're weak?"

I bet we will see more "injured" pitchers. Interesting rule, purist going to be big mad

"Major League Baseball went ahead with its planned rules changes for this season, including the requirement a pitcher must face at least three batters or end the half-inning, unless he is hurt."...

also one spot expansion for rosters at opening day and a slew of minor roster rule changes throughout the year.

Manfred is doing some dumb shit, but trying to speed up the game is not turning off viewers. I'm pretty sure the average game length has crept up over the past decade or so. Trying to reign that in is the right move.

Meh. Not every change is good, but baseball isn't exciting enough to get away with 3-4 hour games.
