Police are starting to allow students and staff to leave their buildings at CMU. They say the suspect is 19 yr old CMU student James Eric Davis. He’s still on the loose. They believe he shot 2 people in a domestic situation this AM. Victims were NOT students or staff of CMU.

my suspicion (and I could be completely wrong..) - but based on what I've read and heard from others.. he was recently (as recent as last night) hospitalized on a drug-related issue. His parents arrived in town out of concern and/or frustration or anger.. he was released from the hospital this morning, they may have been forcing him to come home.. marched him to his dorm room to collect his stuff.. and it led to what ended up being a very tragic confrontation.

again - file this under 'fake news' - it's just what my feeble mind has pieced together. My theory is probably completely wrong.

Based on what CMU posted, it’s the start of spring break, so his parents may have been there to take him home, regardless. Pure speculation, though.
