Marcus strong

Marcus Thornhill, son of Josh, grandson of Mad Dog and nephew of Kaleb continues his battle with brain cancer. I won't link Josh's latest facebook post because I'm not sure it's appropriate here but it does not look good for this little dude.

Take a moment to have a good thought for the Thornhills. Their battle cry during this time has been to "anchor in" and all Spartans should follow it. I can't think of anything more awful than a 5 year old and his family going through this. FUCK CANCER! Especially now.

Thanks Duffy. I'm not on FB and I avoid stories like this like the plague because I'm just not strong enough to handle them. Best wishes to Josh and his family and certainly to this young man. Is there a GFM or any request from the family to contribute to anything?

There was a GFM but I think they raised what they wanted and took it down. This is an amazing family. My son played football with and against Kaleb throughout grade school, middle school and high school. ( mad dog was their coach in little league). I will never forget a little league game when it was about 20 degrees during warmups and the kids looked like the wanted no part of playing football. Mad Dog bellowed: this is football weather!! They all looked at him like he was crazy/mad.

My boy and Kaleb remain friends today and Kaleb is having a great career in the front office with the Miami Dolphins.

I also know Josh from his time at MSU. My heart breaks for them. Fucking sucks.

On to Chemo for Marcus is latest from his Mom, Josh and Kaleb.. Their strength and resolve is amazing. If the power of positive thinking and prayer works this kid has a chance. Anchor in.

Update, Some encouraging news for young Marcus. He seems to be responding well to the chemo and maintaining his strength and appetite. Josh and his wife have sought medical opinions from all over the country and it looks like it is paying off. Still a long, scary road ahead but any little bit of good news is awesome.

The video updates from Josh's wife are both gut wrenching and inspiring. The latest one is really the first one that had any semblance of good news. When she says things like "all Marcus wants to do is play basketball" it tears my heart out.

Katie Jo ( Marcus' Mom) reporting today that the tumor is stable. 8 more weeks of chemo until the next scan. I would post a pic but just can't.

The latest from Josh is Marcus has another MRI scheduled for January 29th. This is a big one as it will tell a lot about whether the chemo is working. #anchorin

Will do. Josh's post this morning was heart wrenching. He is trying his best to put on a good front but the stress on his face was terrible.

Update from Katie Jo. No new growth! Marcus continues to go to school, play basketball and is in great spirits. He even was featured in today's video update with his Mom thanking everyone for the prayers. He will continue with IV chemo for the next 12 weeks before his next MRI. Incredible news with this time of tumor.

The latest from Josh. The chemo is start to beat up Marcus a little bit. Poor kid is having tough nights ( throwing up and other common symptoms from chemo).

Through it all Josh says the kid has been amazingly strong and an inspiration to his mom and Dad. Continue the good thoughts

Big day tomorrow for Marcus. Another MRI which should give a pretty good indication of where he stands with his cancer.

Poor Katie Jo ( mom) is suffering from an ulcer from all of the stress.

Have a good thought, pray if you believe and hope for the best.

Fingers crossed for Marcus.

One of my coworkers' 2 year old son has been in the hospital for ten days with Kawasaki Fever. He is on the uptick but life sucks. Kids shouldn't get sick. Let's hope Marcus also is on the uptick.
