Picture just posted of Josh praying at Marcus's bedside in ICU at Vanderbilt. Absolutely one of the most awful things I've ever seen.

Marcus had a good night and it looks like he will be coming off the vent today.

Kid is unbelievable.

Off the vent and eating but still at Vanderbilt. Uncle kaleb flew in to give Josh and Katie a break. Both have been able to go home for a few hours and get some much needed rest.

aside from watching your own kid go through so much and the emotional toll it takes on you, it's easy for the rest of us to not fully understand the physical toll it takes on parents (or other caregivers) in terms of proper rest, diet, the logistics of going to/from the hospital, etc.

I just hope for the best for Marcus and everyone else impacted and involved.

All true. As much as Josh and Katie want to be there every second it's physically and mentally exhausting.

They both need to take care of themselves too.

Marcus is home and will receive palliative through Vanderbilt asap.His breathing issues continue and the risk of more seizures is high. The home care is necessary for both Marcus and his parents. Mostly for peace of mind if something happens again.

Side note: another go fund me was set up by Kaleb yesterday with the goal of 20k. Within hours they raised 10k and should reach their goal by the end of today.

People are truly anchored in.

Almost 25K is less than 24 hours. They have increased the goal to 50.

The latest news is not good. A new specialist has determined that the tumor is not stable and really never has been. Most of Marcus's issues are directly tied to the tumor rather than chemo or anything else.

He may be eligible for a experimental treatment but Josh and Katie have been told not to get their hopes up. Next MRI is February 11.

(as I've said before, my stomach sinks a little when this thread is bumped)...

MRI results are not good. The tumor is growing and the cancer spreading. Marcus is going off all treatment for two weeks and then will go to Augusta GA for some experimental meds.

Josh and Katie have always prayed but now they are praying for a miracle.

I feel sick right now.

Katie and Marcus are settled in for the new treatment in Augusta Georgia. Josh and the other kids are back in Tennessee. Some new meds seem to be helping but getting Marcus to ingest them has been a struggle.

Poor kid is full of mucus and keeps throwing the pills up.

Per Katie's post: two steps forward, three steps back.

2 steps forward, 3 steps back. Marcus had surgery yesterday to relieve the mucus and make it easier for him to breathe and take his meds. The initial result was good but he has a another major set back. May be headed back to ICU.

Little dude is incredible. He had a great night and is now responding to the surgery/meds.

Going to discharged from the hospital today. Back to the rental home in augusta and treatment will resume in a couple of days.

Marcus is headed home from Augusta GA to Tennessee. The experimental treatment is over. Katie's latest post says they are bringing home to be comfortable in his familiar surroundings.

The poor kid is suffering. Simply heartbreaking.

Josh and Katie have decided to take Marcus off his trial meds. She said in her post today that the decision was very difficult but they are now "surrendering" to God's will. Marcus continues to fight but the poor kid may not have much left.

Awful.

Young Marcus is near the end. Last night Josh and Katie were prepared to say goodbye, telling this little warrior it was ok to go to sleep and Jesus was waiting on the other side.They also gave him the option to keep fighting and the little dude continues to.

He has not spoken or eaten ( other than IV's) in weeks. Have a good thought, say a prayer, anchor in. Heartbreaking.

I can't imagine going through this. So incredibly sad.
