This is how we ended up with our cat. Our friend found it as a kitten deep in the snow when it was around 0 degrees outside. She was in her own urine freezing to death. They brought her in and we adopted her the next day. Been an amazing pet for the last 5 years. We also suspect she was someones pet because she was pretty well socialized and not feral at all. I used to volunteer at an animal shelter and you would not believe the abuse stories you'd hear about dogs and cats. There are some real sick fuckers out there.

Ours is an indoor cat with claws. Letting them outdoors has its baggage...they can get ticks, bring back fleas, get into fights or catch diseases.

Also, if your cat was climbing curtains good chance your cat was a tree dweller. I guess there's bush dwelling cats and tree dwelling cats. A good cat tree can help out a ton with keeping them from climbing up places they shouldn't go. We have two of them and she's been pretty good staying off of most shit.
