I've already mowed twice this year (I get restless)..

with rain in the forecast, I just spent time putting down some Scotts GrubEx.. I don't get too bent out of shape on the weed content of my lawn - it doesn't need to look like Augusta National - but the grubs must and will be killed.

freakin' things.

Just make sure you use 10–12-23-14-20-12-16 fertilizer with 12% lime and 4 season crab grass and fire ant additive. Must be seasonally time released though. Put your spring 2021 with covid protection down in September.

I have to get a service out here to get some shit straightened out. Moss is taking over the heavily shared part of the lawn and the grass in a good portion of the rest of the lawn is still pretty dormant.

woke up this morning and a freakin' rabbit had turned a row of daylillies into his own personal All U Can Eat salad bar overnight.

fuckin' thing.

it's right along the driveway, too - in one of the more visible areas of the Bobby Sak Estate. There are entire areas around the gardens dedicated to daylillies and he eats this one??

I prepay for the season a 6 or 7 treatments. It was of course delayed. I got an email saying they will be coming around soon.

Husband reseeded some areas yesterday and mowed the grass. That’s about it.

I don’t give 2 shits about lawn stuff. I guess that’s what happens growing up in the country. We mowed the couple acres when it was a foot high or so. I don’t pay attention to what other people’s lawns look like.

The only things I like about suburbia is being close by kids for my daughter (it was something I hated so much being far away as a kid), and close to stores.

I think the daylillies can still be salvaged.. gonna get some rabbit repellent today and when it dries up, I'll sprinkle them with copious amounts of dust until they get tall enough not to be eaten.

Rabbits aren't going to kill those things. I dig them up and throw them back on my mulch pile and they just start growing again.

They are very hardy. Deer and rabbits will snack on them year round, especially when they flower. "Watering" them regularly will solve the issue.

And daylilies are too beautiful to be thrown in the mulch pile.

Those are different varieties than the ones around my house, which are commonly referred to as ditch lilies. My wife planted a bunch of them and they spread like crazy.

I do nothing with my lawn. You guys would be disappointed with the number of dandelions and bare spots and other weeds. Supposedly we’re going xeriscape this year with some fancy schmancy landscaper, but technically I’m already doing that. I’m surprised none of my neighbors hate me. Maybe secretly that do but they’re always nice to me so they’re hiding it pretty well.

I sprayed my yard to try and get rid of creeping charlie, haven't fertilized it yet this year. My wife keeps trying to get me to mow the front yard but there's not enough there to mow. There's three huge maple trees that keep the lawn shaded and nothing much other than a thin crop of grass that gets wiped out every fall when I mulch the leaves. I leave about a third of the back yard just natural and have some trails going through it to walk the dogs. I get happy creatures dancing in the yard all the time.

My lawn is a mess. Truegreen fertilizes it. Neighbor kid moves it for $20 (which is a steal for the size of my yard). Dogs tear the shit out of it. Big oaks don't help either. I'm not very anal about my lawn. But my daylily and flower game is strong.

yeah, but until the foliage matures past the point of being dinner for rabbits, they'll keep eating them down to the ground.

I have a concoction of garlic powder, cayenne pepper, water and a splash of dish detergent in a spray bottle. When it dries up, I'm gonna put a little Garlic/Pepper/Dawn Dish Liquid Vinegrette on their fucking salad and they'll disapper.

as I mentioned, I'm not an obsessive freak about the lawn. Plenty of dandelions - I kinda enjoy them (I suspect my high-falutin' neighbors enjoy them less than I do). I just had to get rid of the grubs.

Pretty simple approach to lawn care, I mow, I mulch and I pull a few weeds every now and then around a few of the bushes. Dandelions are welcome here.

Is there such a thing as a large scale natural weed killer. I’m talking closer to yard size than spot treatment? I’m done with the chemicals like Roundup and whatever Scott’s puts in there’s, which is probably a 2-4-D.

I suspect there might be.

Otherwise you could get a 60 gallon drum, fill it with vinegar, I'd say about 6 cups of Epsom salt and maybe half a bottle of dish liquid.

Might have to stockpile some vinegar but better than soaking your lawn with cancer-causing agents.

do y'all have a set time for the earliest you mow your lawn, especially on a weekend?

I was mowing yesterday (Sunday) around 9:15 in the morning. My wife seemed to think it was kind of early but I had seen both sets of neighbors outside outside, so they were awake.

I had already been working outside on some compost materials, trimmed up a tree that had some winter damage. I wasn't really interested in coming inside and sitting around, waiting on some arbitrary 'acceptable' time to mow my own lawn.

It depends, is your lawnmower somewhat along these lines? If so you might want to wait until noon or so.

What’s all this about vinegar? I was just googling about weed killer that won’t also kill my grass as I’m a bit of a newbie to obsessing over my lawn and I’d like to know more
