I don't want to live in a nanny state necessarily but this should not be legal.
No regrets not spending another 200 for 120mz refresh rate instead if 60?
I’m with ya. It’s a form of collusion. So much for competition.

It effectively renders price matching useless doesn't it?

Best Buy QN65 Q60RA FXZA $799
Costco QN65 Q6DTA FXZA $949 (same box I saw in the store as D Wags' picture from Sams)
Same TV or not? All the specs look like it.
EDIT, just figured it out. The one at Best Buy is a 2019 model, the one from Sams & Costco is a 2020 model.
Yeah. I did the 2019 version on Amazon. Only saw the 2020 at Best Buy, or I woulda picked it up.

That’s why we’re bitching about it. It’s tantamount to collusion/price fixing. Nobody undercuts others too much, effectively eliminating competition. Capitalism at its finest.

Yet in the discussion about this particular TV, that's not the case at all, they have the same model number, just a different year. So you're just yelling at clouds then?

It was originally supposed to deliver today. I was getting a little giddy so I wanted to see if it was still on track for today (plus I haven't told the wife yet ).

We've received your order, but we haven't started preparing it for shipment yet. The amount of time your order spends in this status can vary based on the availability of the item(s) and the selected delivery.

My biggest TV until now was 55". I guess 65" is kind of middle-of-the-road these days in terms of size, but the extra 10" feels exponentially bigger when you're sitting across from it.

I don't think mine is coming. Just checked it and it still says delivery for Thur, but there is no shipping info. The Mr. Coffee Ice Tea Maker replacement has not shipped either.
I got some serious first world people problems going on here.

Costco just delivered a TV and ice tea maker to my front porch. I didn't order them. Should I just keep them?

I’m a fan of a 55” tv. My mother in law has a 40” inch tv and it’s too small. My brother in law has a 30 inch tv and I was telling him he really needs to step it up. I haven’t really thought about upping my rig to 65” tv yet. For now 55” feels right.

Heh, and true story. I worked at a company that got a 100 inch tv for the executive conference room. I was too far down the ladder and they’d never let me in there to look at it but I remember the day they installed it they had a LOT of problems. I think they had to hire a structural engineer.

I think you have my wife's order. I strung lights around our deck and wound them around the rails last winter. I also put a tree out on the deck and lit that up. The wife and kids liked the way the deck looked when they were in the hot tub. So, she told me she ordered some to do it all year round. Let me know when you get my order, I'll meet you half way.

AVS forums and search for your tv. They will have settings. Also Cnet usually has good ones. You can also hire people to come out and do it, or order a disc/program you play on the screen that helps you dial it in. Generally you don't want to use the "standard" or "vivid" settings, the "film/movie" is a good place to start. It may appear off color at first but play with it some watching regular tv with images you know look correct to you and tweak from there. Also turn off the soap opera effect settings.

My extremely basic go-to when adjusting colors is to throw on South Park. I know what colors their shirts are supposed to be, so I just tweak until they look right to me.

Re: Favor to ask the board. Purchasing a t.v. tomorrow unless you all talk me out of it.
I put my plasma back in
The color is muted compared to the plasma. It is like there is a grey film over over the screen/blacks are not as deep. I cant get the same color saturation w/o cranking up the backlight, which then burns the retinas, especially at night.
Picture also doesn't look as crisp.
I don't get it.
Best I can get it
Picture Mode: Movie
Backlight: 35-40 (50 max)
Brightness: -5 (lowest)
Contrast: 40 (50 max)
Sharpness: 15 (20 max)
Color: 40-50 (50 max)
Tint: 0
Color Tone: Warm2 (least blue)
Gamma: BT.1886 -3 or 0
Color Space: Native
All enhancers off
I'm going to try a calibration disk next. But, I'm skeptical. This old plasma just has better color/darks.

Did you check to see if there is literally a film covering the screen for protection during transit?

Alright, I think I got it as close to o.g. as I can with the specs above. Overall great TV. Love the remote/smartv apps and size. I'm probably just insane and need to get used to it. Back up it goes.Plasma going to the basement.
