Growing up in West MI the only teams you saw were the Lions, whoever was playing the Lions and 1 AFL game.

Remember Darlye Lomonica throwing the long ball all the time.

Question for the Board Empty Re: Question for the Board

Post by Cameron 2020-12-24, 11:50

Depends. I first started with NFL Films, and I therefore fell in love with the 49ers, but not the (at the time) current incarnation, the Joe Montana version, although Jerry Rice was my favorite, not the QB. At that time, Steve Young would have actually been the 49ers QB.

When I actually started regularly watching live games, I of course started with the Spartans, and Bill Burke was the guy. I've had a soft spot for lefty QBs ever since.

Must have been hard to drop back and pass with Bill standing there all the time.

Jim Plunkett

For college, I didn't start really getting into it until I became a huge Canes fan so Steve Walsh. But if I'm being honest, Jim Harbaugh. My Dad watched them and cared a little, so I did, too.

They’d also get 12 men on the field called on them every game.

Question for the Board Empty Re: Question for the Board

The Lions were my favorite team when I started watching football. So Terry Bradshaw. And what a QB era that was:

Bradshaw, Staubach, Zorn, Stabler, Pastorini, Manning, Tarkenton, Griese, Jones, Anderson, Kilmer, Hart.

...and then there's Greg Landry.

I think Landry went for a 90 yard sneak against my packers once.

No idea who it was in 1970/71/72, so I’ll say Charlie Baggett b/c he’s the first qb name I can remember.
