Tools, ladders, paint brushes, lawn mower, shovels, rakes, etc. Congrats!
My youngest and his fiancée just moved into their 1st house a couple weeks ago. Going to give him a nice assortment of my power tools and teach him how to use them because he didn't pay much attention when I used them. Millennials.

Aren't you somewhere near Lake Michigan? If so and depending on the length of your driveway, a snowblower might come in handy.

Get rid of popcorn ceiling. Paint. If you're going to change the floors, do all of that first. Get the name of a trusted contractor. Whatever you want to change, it will cost double what you think. Pay someone to do the work for you, it will save you the time and money you just spent destroying whatever you thought you could fix.

I will second this. On big projects, unless you absolutely know what you're doing, hire a professional. More often than not you'll just fuck something up and still will have to pay someone else to do it right.
Practice on someone else's house for home improvement projects first.

Good stuff, gracias
I actually offered $10k below asking price and they took it Renting was kinda shitty the past few years but I've been able to save up for something that isn't a fixer-upper. Feels good. Excited to get to work on some projects around the house though.

Our first one was in the east side of Detroit. We said we’d give them their asking price minus 5K but everything needed to stay as far as utilities. We were young and fairly poor (shit, still are poor). We did the math and we could buy the house and furnish every room but two bedrooms if we didn’t need to buy washer dryers fridge (for fruits) Ovens etc. needed a couple years.
I remember how great it felt wakes. It was our place. Everything felt real cool. Enjoy this.

Congrats Wake!
I think the first thing you want to get to work on is obvious. Dig yourself a nice deep pit. If you have questions or need any advice, let me know, let's just say I might know a guy.

Congrats wake!!!! It really was a huge relief to us when we moved into our first house 5 years ago.
I kinda agree with pantry. Buy the tools/household items you will need. It adds up. Get used on somethings if you can like a ladder or power drill. Wheel barrel, shovel, yard gloves, rakes, etc. Work on paint first before you move shit in if you can. Buy a new TV or something fun like that to treat yourself. Enjoy!

Go to St Johns hospital. Turn left down 7 mile. Take it to the Harper service drive. Turn right. About half way between 7&8 there’s a big building exway electric. At the end of the building is hunt club. I was five houses off 94 to the East.

It would be easier if I just took Harper all the way up from Whittier, thanks. I'll teleport 36 years back in time and try it.

Along the same lines, make sure the breaker box is labeled correctly before plugging in and setting everything up

Serious comment, depending on how big your driveway and/or yard is, look into battery powered power tools. No reason to mess with gas/oil if you don't have to. Just make sure you stay with the same brand so that you can share batteries across tools. I have a mower, leaf optimist and pressure washer that I love that are all in the same ecosystem.

Re: I bought a house!
I just bought a corded chainsaw and saved a couple days of headache. The gas ones are so flakey after a couple years... For a tool I try to use 2-3 days a year. They become projects of their own.
Not sure of the battery ones though. The battery has a life, usually only last the year the company stops selling a replacement.
