If they leave they'll lose millions of their citizens as a good chunk of that state voted for Hillary and Biden and I'm sure they won't want to stick around for the Q crazy country they'll become. Stuff is fun to threaten and I'm sure in the short term it seems like a great idea but I'd say the old adage 'careful what you wish for' applies to this half baked idea they are pushing for.

Assuming the world doesn't end by then I'm guessing Texas is permanently blue by 2028. I'm pulling this completely out of my ass trying to sound smart so if anyone would like to provide some actual facts that would be welcome. But it's obviously trending that way.

In another 15 years the stuff that made Texas rich is going to be worth a lot less, so financing stuff is going to be lot more difficult.

So, like, their national championship game will be UT vs TAMU every single year? This is a great opportunity for Rice to finally have a top 10 football program.

its 19 US Military bases (9 USA, 6 USAF, 4 USN) along with the over $100B of annual economic impact;

All Federal research monies for Texas universities;
All Federal aid to students attending any higher education institutions and vocational schools in Texas;

NASA, it’s $21B budget and 3000 employees leave Houston;

Texas loses Federal DOT money.

It becomes a separate entity so like Mexico and Canada they will need their own military. They will have lots of bases available after the US evacuates.

Please Please Please Texas, Go it alone.

Secession is unconstitutional. They would be occupied by the army and their legislature would be disbanded and they would be under marshal law until a new state government could be installed.

Well, he's not the mayor anymore. I mean, he was when he posted that manifesto, though, according the city's website. Like a good Republican, he has an alternate reality, saying he resigned on February 12th.

This is something I would love to see on YouTube. The problem is, while LWT uploads their videos each week, they always skip the opening and only include the main story. Probably follows their agreement with HBO.
