I don’t know how you actually determine that, but it’s 2022 I’m sure there’s some science we could figure out. We don’t do anything now until they have already murdered someone, that’s too late. Make them think twice about even touching their gun. If it’s justified to be touching it, then they’ll be fine and they’ll recoup the lost money. They’ve proven time and time again that their decision making skills are not up to snuff, so make that decision point sooner in the event.
Also this is a compromise with those who would disagree with my initial position of take away their guns entirely and lock them in the trunk of their car where the same process could play out.
You know what else we have to teach police? It’s OK to lose a struggle against an unarmed perpetrator. It’s OK if they break away and can out run you. Sure, it absolutely sucks that we might be letting a car thief, a drug dealer, or any other type of criminal go, but there’s always the next day and we have a great description of this person, among other things. In this case, if the guy got away, and it was a stolen car, we now have the car back. How great is that? We also have fingerprints all over the inside of the car.
We need to let police know it’s OK to lose a struggle and let a perpetrator get away. You did your best, we respect that, we know you are in a very dangerous line of work, but we want you to go home to your loved ones and not prison, and we would rather put a person on trial in the future rather than put him to death immediately.

2016: Appx. 957 people killed by police
2017: Appx. 980 people killed by police
2018: Appx. 984 people killed by police
2019: Appx. 998 people killed by police
2020: Appx. 1,019 people killed by police
2021: Appx. 1,053 people killed by police
2022: Appx. 254 people killed by police so far

In most of these cases, the victim possessed a weapon and acted in a threatening manner. However, that does not prevent me from believing these numbers are way too high. There is a problem somewhere. Police should not be killing 1,000 people a year in this country. On average, almost 3 people across the country will be killed by police every day. This is a problem with society, law enforcement, or both.

I remember like 10 years ago there was a police chase in Royal oak because they were chasing some dude that shoplifted from a Meijer. What the fuck are you thinking? Let the dude go, go look at the 100 cameras located everywhere all over a Meijer property. You’ll find him tomorrow. Even if you don’t, Meijer has insurance for this. It’s fine. There’s no sense in risking injuring or killing someone to try to get this guy right this instant.

Don't you love how our tax dollars are also for private sector security? But don't ask for a raise or better health care.

Don't you know that these businesses are JOB CREATORS?! We need to make sure they have the funds to create all these jobs! If that means not giving you a raise or better insurance, so be it! Would you rather they go out of business?!?!

Makes the I support The Thin Blue Line espoused by almost all the GOP candidates a lot more controversial than it was prior to the shooting in GR a few weeks ago when it was plausible to say that stuff happens in other places.

Making shoplifting not a crime is working out great.

crime is great.
I don’t think anyone said that shoplifting shouldn’t be crime but I can selectively edit peoples posts to make it sound like they said something they didn’t too

the GOP doesn't support police or the enforcement of laws. That is very clear. They support police when they murder unarmed black people.GRR Spartan wrote:This incident has got the potential to get real ugly and further split the electorate in the 2022 gubernatorial, AG and Sec of State races.

Yep. Anti-police and anti-gun. Just ask the bad people to behave and we'll all meet for milk and cookies in the afternoon.

The only people who are pro-police are the ones who don’t have the guts to murder people themselves. [I’m sure you can see what I did there]

Re: Police Shooting in Grand Rapids
But NumbersDude goes from A to Q with this asinine example. The guy in the wheelchair is already an inmate.
From what I have seen the GRPD officer decided to pull over a vehicle driven by the deceased because of license plate. That doesn’t warrant fatally shooting the driver.
I know a county sheriff deputy and a MSP officer who have both shot suspects when the suspects used their cars as weapons.
This wasn’t the case and the GR citizens are going to see more of the city’s budget going to increased liability insurance premiums after the city will be found liable for the driver’s death.
