LOL. Really? I'e kind of maybe been saying, just once or twice..... kind of mentioned it.
Guys, the big ten hates MSU. Always has. We've had one coach who knew it and decided to just play his fuck you card, and we have one basketball coach who has overcome it because he is beyond a saint. If Izzo was in any other conference the commissioner of the conference would fawn all over him, consult him constantly, use him as the spear head and talking head and generally run everything through him. That he usually gets the short end of things after he 's been so successful and such an ambassador to the game should show all of us.
We get nothign out of this game moving to FF. Nothing. Except some fans right now are thinking "Cool, it will be easier on me to watch a game, I won't have to be cold and we t like the fans had to be against PSU in 2021. " But know what? Those fans rarely go to games and probably won't go to FF.
We need Dantonio, now more than ever. Not as a coach, but just like after the ESPN hatchet job, the only man to call a presser and stick up for MSU
BY THE WAY, , I love Haller. Hope he kicks ass. First week on the job he called my daughter and another member to his office and talked to them about their team. Their senior year they got all kinds of swag, they got a parking permit to Jenison where the practiced everyday. For three years they had to find a way there, or risk a ticket becasue they didn't even rate a parking permit. He did a ton for the team. And many others we don't even know about. Love him. He got put under a thumb here.

I don't think it was our idea.
I think Penn State would only agree to it, if it was in Detroit. And I think they told the Big Ten that off the record.
The Big Ten then asked us to move the game.

Re: tOfficial 2023 Spartan Football Thread
FWIW it probably wasn't Penn State who cared about the venue.
A combination of the B1G, possibly influenced by M, who hates it when MSU hosts a successful new thing at MSU, (M probably expects it to fail) but also the B1G evaluating the potential for Detroit as a future championship site & NBC as a future BSC site could also be part of the mix.
It sounds like MSU protected its own in this deal, and seriously, a game on network TeeVee with less competition for eyeballs is all to the good.
The sooner MSU fans (and others) realize we are in a new world and accept that the better. As a traditionalist I am pissed that the B1G decided to go to bowl games other than the Rose, but that ship sailed long ago.

Meh, I’ll allow a straw man from the point of my post. But first I’ll re-emphasize 1. Big ten hates us. 2.we are the only team sacrificing for the sake of the league and networks. 3. I believe we were forced into it. 4. Most of the fans, in my opinion , who are fired up about the game are fans who rarely go to games and are putting their creature comforts over home field advantage for our team and 50/50 don’t go to this one anyway. 5. I’ll be there screaming.
Dantonio. Pushed back about Gholstons suspension. Emphasized on National television he only cares about Spartans “it’ll never be over”. “It’s the program”. “We shoved it it” “a lot of things they do amuse me”. I’d think of more along the way but I don’t think that would convince you.

Okay.
We don't have a person who is willing to be an asshole to the rest of the B1G.
It may have been emotionally satisfying but his BS statements made zero difference to the outcomes.
And they (the B1G & M) got him with going after every diamond in the rough that he identified and pouching them and an endless lawsuit against him which broke him.
We also have to face the elephant in the room.
The B1G loves that they can point to MSU for diversity in head coaching & the AD's office, and that the diversity ties MSU's ability to push back.
If you want to bitch about something why not bitch about the White Privilege which is the real problem?
Re: tOfficial 2023 Spartan Football Thread
All of those examples are about Michigan (or are Michigan adjacent like the suspension), not the big ten
Honestly man, it’s about a tv contract. A tv contract that our university gets like $100,000,000 from. A contract that stupidly says that we need to play night games in November. We decided we’d rather play indoors if we’re going to have to do a night game rather than having a national tv game that has 17 students in the student section at the beginning and 10 people left total by the end, which we would have been embarrassed by. It’s not worth the kind of meltdown it’s being given. I think everyone is just bored with no sports that any of us really care about going on.
Due to that contract, I think that while we were first here, you can expect that the schools adjacent to minnesotas dome and Indianapolis’ dome will also play a few games there in the coming years. As for um, I don’t really care what they do. If they want to host Illinois at night in November, best of luck to them, there will be no one in the stands there either.

Ford Field has hosted a Super Bowl. I don't think they need any additional evaluation for a Big Ten Championship Game.

According to the article MSU will have a majority of the tickets, Penn State will have it's section at the same proportion of tickets as at Spartan Stadium. If MSU ticket holders sell their tickets to Penn State fans that is on them.

I don't think the Big Ten would learn anything new from a MSU/PSU game that they wouldn't already know from a Super Bowl (or even a regular season Lions game).

Correct. Just like MSU fans would sell their tickets at Spartan Stadium. The difference here (I think) is that season ticket holders/fans would be more likely to sell at Spartan Stadium (it's cold...end of year...worn out), whereas it's a separate purchase at Ford Field (and you'll get other fans that don't usually go to games, or bail on the last game because it's too cold) and fans would be less likely to sell.

That may be true, or not.
However, White Privilege is true and reflected in the media, so even though Tucker did push back, gently, the media ignored him and more likely than not if he was a blunt as MD was, he would be called racist names by a majority of the population. Not liking reality doesn't do much for the situation. The AD's the same situation. Izzo did push back hard but no one listened.

I don't give a shit about Michigan either. But if you think they'd be one of those teams that give up a home game and move it to 'FF' we'll have to disagree. I don't think the Big Ten would dare ask.
Michigan wouldn't give up a home game because they sell out a 100,000+ stadium every week. We don't.
The Big Ten can't force teams to move games off campus. Surely you don't believe that. Did we agree to do it to make the game happen (and play in Prime Time, instead of Nebraska/Iowa)? Maybe.

I didn’t say that they would. I said I don’t care if they do or don’t. You seem to want the big ten to ask them to do that in a meeting that you’ll never attend or know even happened so I’m not sure what you’re even asking for here
Yeah, I don’t want a meeting but, if we are a league, which treats members equally, the big ten should have had a schedule and should have called a presser. In 2024 Minnesota plays at the dome. In 2025 Indiana plays at Lucas oil. I. 2026 Michigan at ford field. 2027 psu at Heinz.
But they didn’t. And we know why. That’s all.

Those are assumptions however. So we also have to assume that if tickets are not sold to MSU fans for their "allotment" they won't tell people "Sorry we're not selling tickets that we have, it was either MSU or nobody".
How is this being done? It wasn't clear but I thought that season ticket holders were just being given tickets.
Money back for the PSU game tickets offered to ff in similar area at FF prices.
Meantime we’ll have to see any class action lawsuits over false advertising to buy season tickets. Long shot but some fans might want to make a point. PSU was used to sell them.

So, you DO think the Big Ten forced us to play at Ford Field.
And Haller's focus groups and 3 weeks of weighing pros and cons were all bullshit that he just made up?
Members treated equally meaning each team gets the same amount of prime time games? OSU gets relegated to some Peacock game at some point? And ratings/TV revenue suffer...to be fair?

Did you miss my post when I put the Haller story here? “I smell bullshit” must have different meanings to different people. I said what I said.

You’re buying tickets. List in order the reason via teams you’d buy
Central
Richmond
Washington
Maryland
Nebraska
Penn State
Michigan
I might accept a 2nd place vote for Washington. Anything else is bullshit.

So, Haller is part of some elaborate conspiracy to protect the "Big Ten" from being outed for forcing us to play at Ford Field.
That's a heavy burden to bear.

This you?
Yeah. Something isn't adding up (so to speak). If it was our idea to move the game to Ford Field, why would the Big Ten guarantee we're not going to lose money by moving the game to Detroit? Maybe this is just a case of things getting murky when talked about in detail.
I'm leaning more that Penn State wouldn't agree to move the game to Black Friday until the Detroit option was put on the table. I could be wrong.
We should be getting more in ticket revenue. If we're not, that's a problem.
Also
I don't mind the move to Detroit, but there's some spin going on.
