Miles dad had just passed away. I think that’s why he was in town. I don’t think it’s OK to say no to him. But yeah it was uncomfortable when they had to show him on the big screen.

I had to read a few articles to figure out what was going. This article is probably the most comprehensive (based to testimony from various parties). Apparently you don't need a permit to carry in Alabama, which is why Miller hasn't been charged with anything (yet).

Darius Miles asked Brandon Miller to bring gun used to kill Jamea Jonae Harris, police testify

Its a helluva jump to equate the way Oates has handled starting the player who provided another player with a gun who then used it to kill a person to Miles Bridges who let MSU for the NBA after the 2018 season.

Bridges plead no contest to charges and got 3 years probation after a plea for his actions in a fight with his wife.  He's got 52 weeks of parenting classes, 52 weeks of domestic violence counseling 100 hours of community service and he's effectively lost a year and probably cost himself millions in career earnings.  It's not like he violated probation to attend the IU game.

I think Oates knows he's on thin ice and if the county prosecutor hasn't brought charges against the guy who gave the gun to the shooter he might as well play him and try to win as many games as he can.  A drop in the win column makes Oate's rope that much shorter.

Given the way Oates is handling this mess makes me think his name has been taken off a lot of lists of coaches to reach out to when a Top 10-15 program becomes open.  

After the events of February 13 2023 at MSU combined with the way Oates has handled his star who gave the gun to a teammate and the shooter who killed with it Oates went from 1A list to contact to NFW for MSU..

Good point. I’ll bet you the story is already in the cannon ready to be released. I get that Izzo was trying to be a father figure there, and who knows what counseling he’s given miles or what counseling Miles Bridges has gotten, but I have to say, when they showed him on the big screen at the game, I asked why they needed to do that. Especially then. I was uncomfortable. Half the stadium applauded. I did hear some boo’s.  True to green seat form, I did nothing

He’s going to tour a battered wife shelter so it’s all good. Situation addressed and handled. End story.

So I guess the Alabama basketball team has this thing where they do a mock police patdown during player intros. They were still doing it as of yesterday.

In a cringeworthy microcosm of the PR and common sense failures Albama has bungled in recent days, pregame customs prior to No. 2 team's home game against Arkansas made way for a gesture so callous, it had to be watched multiple times to be believed. After the standing ovation for Brandon Miller had come and gone during pregame warmups, it was time for player introductions. And, as he's reportedly done most (if not all of) the season, Miller was patted-down by one of his teammates.
