Massive Attack - Blue Lines
Nirvana - Nevermind
My Bloody Valentine - Loveless
Smashing Pumpkins - Gish
The Orb - The Orb's Adventures Beyond Ultra world
A Tribe Called Quest - Low End Theory
Red Hot Chili Peppers - Blood, Sugar, Sex, Majik
Soundgarden - Badmotofinger
Type O Negative - Slow, Deep, and Hard
Mud Honey - Every Good Boy Deserves Fudge
U2 - Achtung Baby
Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers - Into the Great Wide Open
2Pac - 2Pacalypse Now
Pearl Jam - Ten
Cypress Hill - self-titled
Metallica - black album
Temple of the Dog - self-titled
REM, GNR, Dinosaur Jr., jazz legends Freddie Hubbard a Chick Corea had releases, too. A lot of great stuff released that year, more than I can cover so here is a link:

I don't have a year ready to go off the top of my head, but I suspect '67-'69 would all be strong contenders on my personal rankings. Probably a good handful of years in the 70s that also belong in the conversation, '76 is a good one.

I guess it also depends whether you are considering live performances of note, or just studio releases.

I really wish you were not GreenWay's apprentice.

No, just albums and singles. I think live performances would change it for sure. I wouldn't know where to begin there. '69?

Sadly, that’s never stopped you before.

91’ was obviously a great year for releases. I didn’t know Cake by the Ocean was that old.

Meh. Other than the grunge (and tribe), the rest was kinda sucky.

I dunno man. That is a pretty solid and diverse lineup. Especially coming off 1990, which was complete trash
You have the start of the grunge era with a dozen albums. You have arguably the end of the great metal era with Metallica Black. Not their best album, but metal was dying and that was probably the last metal album for me. I wore that disc out when it was released in the summer.
Then in the fall Achtung Baby was released. U2's best album IMO. I still remember that disc being played on full blast 6th floor Akers for hours the day it came out (mighta been some weed involved). Chili Peppers was a great keg party setlist. GNR, Cypress Hill, 2Pac, Ghetto Boys, REM (not a fan but respect)... I can't think of a more diverse year.

Warren Zevon's Mr. Bad Example was a highlight of 1991. The G N' R Use Your Illusion albums were overdone, but had a lot of quality work on them. John Prine's The Missing Years was excellent, too.
