Chances of Keon coming back?
tOfficial Keon Coleman % Thread
What's his name said the chances of Coleman coming back were 25%.
What say you Swillers?
(Cancel and change your vote daily with breaking news...like Keon visiting FSU this weekend.)

Honestly don’t care. We need a healthy locker room. If him being on the team helps that cool. If him leaving helps that cool.
I want Tucker to pick up some nice defensive backs from the portal.

FSU is a hot team/sexy pick to contend in the ACC with Clem & UNC. But need some WRs. If Jordan Travis is probably a 2-3 round pick. Maybe sneak into the 1st if he has big year.
No idea what kinda NIL program they have.

How does Tucker handle this? If he met with him after he entered the portal, what does he say...
OK. Go see what you can get. Let me know, and I'll see if we can match it.
Like a restricted free agency kind of thing?

I dunno. I'm all for kids getting paid. But the current process just seems sleazy.

Uh, wait... what about contracts? When the kid "signs" if the school includes NIL, wouldn't/couldn't/shouldn't there be a commitment on both sides? The NFL player doesn't get to hold up there team every year...

I assume they are one year contracts but who knows. That's the problem.

I like the old days better, when they bought mom's new houses, dad's new tractors for the farm, and dropped off duffle bags of cash. Those were the days.

Like a restricted free agency…where you get to match an offer.

I don't. Doesn't mean the new way is awesome. We are basically at the BCS phase of NIL. The previous system was horrible. Step the right direction, but still flawed.

Only way to fix it is for the big schools to break away from the NCAA, and establish a salary/NIL cap with 4 year deals.
Or make guys sit out a year again when transferring.

If you look at FSU money vs MSU money, their players are making more on average. Man maybe the guy from on3 is right. We have to step up or we’ll constantly lose our stars.

I understand that.
I'm asking how Tucker would handle it in a meeting with Coleman after he entered the portal.
All hypothetical.
Would he say that we would match (or exceed) offers he received? (Similar or like a restricted free agency in a professional league)
Would he say sorry...we've done this before...good luck to you?

It would depend on how Tucker wanted to handle it and how he thought it would affect the rest of the team.
If players are thinking they can get more NIL elsewhere and want to test the market that's on them. If Tucker wants to get in a bidding war that's on MSU.

One year scholarships, make the NIL multiple year contracts?.. Seems like if the kids want to be big boys and girls, contract law needs to come into play here.

School can't include NIL. That's a recruiting violation. Don't forget that technically they're not paying them to go to a school. That they 100% go to the school the person paying them wants them to is a mere conicidence.

Right, but if a student let's say his name is Boleman holds up the coach for more money... and the coach goes to a giant mortgage company to get him paid, couldn't the mortgage company have him sign a contract prior to cutting the check? Force him to pay it back or stick around for a certain time span? (Just like every other contract.) Seems like these kids can't have their cake and eat it too.StylesGShmooth wrote:AvgMSUJoe wrote:Uh, wait... what about contracts? I would guess NIL contracts are for a year (based on the school year more or less), and/or dependent on enrollment.
