Dude. In manistee Michigan in 1968 we were still reeling from my dad taking a job as a coach in Michigan first in Coleman then in manistee. We were Wisconsin cheeseheads. Couldn’t hear our bucks or packers in Coleman and we knew the new team was coming in 68. But then Manistee allowed us to listen to Eddie Ducette in our transistor radio because we could pick up the Milwaukee station from across the lake

Larry Costello coach. I was obsessed with them. My mom has all their autographs somewhere in the house. I wrote letters to them asking.

They were my passion team before I became a Spartan. When they won a title 50 years later one Swill member texted me that night. I was running around wanting to hug someone like Jimmy V but I was alone. Then a Swill member texted me about the game and series. Coolest thing ever. I sent him and his son a hat.

I love that team. They’ve collected a ton of talent. It’s been wasted.
