They both said that the relationship started after he was hired, (the "appearance" is all in people heads) and, BTW, she had a significant amount of difficulty find anyone to work on this case and was turned down by several people who wanted nothing to do with a case which could ruin their career.  It is clear that there was no need for anyone to have sex with her to get this contract.
