Ninety-five percent of those news conferences are monumental wastes of time. It’s just a bunch of politicians and LEOs mentioning each others names. Here’s an idea: Give a list of every agency taking part, from local to federal, and then move along. We don’t need to know every individual’s name who is involved. Thank all the first responders, including hospital staff, and move along to the facts and what is known at present. Stop concerning yourself with making appearances and/or being seen or mentioned.

Looks like the republican/libertarian christian hero might still be on the loose. Hearing that law enforcement has disbanded around the house.

Thoughts with the area and decent folks are supporting law enforcement and hoping this doesn't get worse.

I really feel for the people having to shelter in place for this long. I only had to do it a few hours and it was stressful.

Can't imagine. As you mentioned, it was hell in East Lansing for 3--4 hours.

Oddly enough, someone I grew up with (graduated from HS with her brother, she's a few years younger) is a professor at Bowdoin College, she and her family live down the coastline in Portland. Been in touch with her a bit and it's obviously unimaginable.

Because I had to take our aging dog outside to get busy a couple times, I took a moment to prepare myself mentally so that in the event I met the shooter face to face, I would be ready to fire. It did not make me feel any better. And by the way, my S&W and Sig were plenty of firepower. I did not need an AR-15-style semi-auto rifle to defend myself. In truth and in fact, no one does. I only said that because it’s how SCOTUS ruled. However, I agree with you that it’s debatable. I’ll also argue that 2A doesn’t say a person can own an unlimited number of guns.

Did the shooter’s family know he had purchased the AR-15 type rife and ammo before his visit to the medical facility?

Did they ask about weapons when he told them about hearing voices telling him others were talking about him?

This was a crime driven by mental illness, not racial hate but the common denominator is the relative ease the shooter could get the gun used to kill 18 and wound others.
