I am a veteran (US Army) and a gun owner. I support gun control. I am not being two-faced.

I know better than most what guns can do and how they should be used. We need rational laws that limit who is able to purchase weapons and what type of weapons citizens can possess.

I veiw that as a negotiating position in counter to those who argue that all guns should be allowed.

Handguns make things worse more often than making things better, as you alluded to.  Based on that banning them is a rational choice.

The most rational proposal I have heard of which allows guns of all types, which is really where the laws currently are, is to have extremely high taxes on the sale of guns and ammunition.

Did you guys know it is legal to own and fire a military cannon.  I know of someone who does.  Everytime the President comes within range he is visited by the FBI.

probably worth mentioning that just because "pro-life" republicans/libertarians pretend to care about mental health after one of their much celebrated mass shootings, doesn't mean that they really care about mental health.
