Sucks. I loved those old U of D teams and going to Calihan Hall for games. He was a damn good player. RIP Twirl

I thought I’d leave it for someone who needed to stretch their memory synapses. It’s Kevin Smith.

Yep. The OG Smitty from the City. Other than Magic, the best high school player I ever saw. He's good friends with my oldest brother. Super good dude.

The Vitale effect. Not sure about Duerod but he definitely brought Long and Tyler to the Pistons. I remember the Dickie V's presser "Thunder and Lighting reunite at the Silverdome!"

I remember watching that game and being so deflated when he hit that shot. Then I found joy again in OT.

Exact opposite for me Greenway. Magic just decided the Vikings were going to win in OT. If there was a 3 point line back then, maybe Earvin doesn't become a legendtGreenWay wrote:duffy munn wrote:

Kid (26) in my department has been off for months with what I think is stomach cancer. As of now he's supposed to come back to work in April.

Toby Keith's music gave several small town kids like me a voice back in the early 2000s. Unfortunately, in hindsight some of that music was fairly problematic, but this sucks. Fuck cancer.

The more I've learned about Toby, the less I've liked him. That said, he still has a couple songs that I still enjoy. Not a fan of him as a person, but my grandpa died of stomach cancer. It was a horrible way to go, and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

yeah, I've never been down the the faux patriotism and jingoism that is, by design, very anti-American, but people do what they can to make a living, I reckon.CaptainSlow33 wrote:Robert J Sakimano wrote:I remember when a real patriot like Kris Kristofferson gave 'ol faux patriot Toby Keith what for at a Willie Nelson birthday celebration a handful of years back. Before its recent accident, the Ingenuity craft made history. The experimental robot was the first craft to ever make a powered, controlled flight on another planet.
Presumably meaning in this solar system, orchestrated by humans from the 3rd planet.

Never met Toby K., but one of the guys I worked with in radio got to be pretty good friends with him back in the early 90s when the new country sound was taking off. Always got a very good impression of him from my colleague. Once I left the station, I didn’t think of him at all until reading of his jingoism and later, his failed restaurant chain.
