terrifying because I'm not sure most people understand how close the entirety of Europe, and beyond, was to complete Nazi control.
also terrifying because I'm not sure people understand the parallels we see happening now, with full support of one of the major political parties in the United States.

There was a war on the other side of the globe, in which probably more square miles changed hands twice.

Apparently the Republicans don't remember how many American lives were lost and how much American blood was spilt during this war because it wasn't stopped in 1938 when it would have taken less effort.

oh, and, good thread, KL - I'm not much a history dude (I rely on experts if/when I have questions), but the time lapse video was pretty attention-grabbing.

Without brushing up on the war the time lapse leads me to think the expansion into Russia was the death sentence. If they’d have just stuck to Western Europe things may have been very different

Until Germany attacked the USSR they were allies. Most of Germany's military, and the best units in the military, was committed to fighting in Russia, once they attacked so yes. The German military in France was considered second rate, by Germany. It is unliky that an invasion of France by England & the US would ever have been attempted. That was a huge mistake.
