Government Bad - RIP Peanut the Squirrel Empty Government Bad - RIP Peanut the Squirrel

Yet another example of why more government is never the answer. Fuck the New York DEC. This is total bullshit.

https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2024/11/01/peanut-the-squirrel-euthanized/75992420007/

And before any one of you dare utter, "It's just a squirrel, dude" you can fuck right off. That was someone's pet. A part of their family.

I never understood the thoughts behind January 6, but if an angry mob wanted some vigilantly justice in this instance, I'd be more than happy to hit up their Go Fund Me. And if anyone ever wants to come for any of my pets, they better have a battle tank and full Kevlar, 'cause I will defend with deadly force.

I agree, TM. I understand the regulations of keeping wildlife as pets, but it seems they could have made an exception here. At least let it live in a sanctuary or zoo. But kill it? That’s messed up. Usually the NY DEC is very good, much better than the PA DCNR. Not this time.

The government regularly murders people and I’m more concerned about that tbh.

If cocksuckers can own tigers and have goddamn private zoos, keeping a squirrel should be fine.

That said, just get a fucking dog or a cat, for fuck's sake. My mom is a vet tech and once got bit by someone's "pet" skunk (she wasn't the only one, it was a biter), and she and the whole clinic all had to get rabies shots. People don't need to keep exotic animals in their homes. Dogs and cats are fine, you are not special and no one is impressed that you have imprisoned a small mammal of an undomesticated species.

That’s why I don’t get upset when I read this, Cam:

Funny his hero namesake died in a similar fashion.

You clearly didn't read the background. The guy works in wild life animal rescue. Peanut was orphaned and he rescued him. If I were a small mammal I'd rather be "imprisoned" than die. Apparently Peanut agreed with me.

You are correct, I did not. Rescue is an entirely different story, and I am very sympathetic to it

We've made the office of the Presidency too powerful.

The fact that every four years, we end up in a situation where one of the sides is scared or angry just goes to show that the Presidency has too much power.

With the ruling about official actions from the Supreme Court, it’s truer now than ever.

There’s a reason why the founders wanted checks and balances, instead of resorting to executive actions.

We were already screwed because of political parties and coordination across branches, but since the overuse of EA since the Bush era by both parties and continued outsized influence of the executive, we are not in a good place.

To make it worse, it boggles my mind that we have notions of conservative and liberal judges. They shouldn’t be political.

We have to turn back the clock and reduce the size/power of the government.
