Re: Dammit Oregon
The flag for taunting was complete BS. Not a big deal, every team slips up.

Did they really lose 3 O-linemen, since we've played them?

Yes, they're line is a patchwork right now. It's not the same team.

So, if comparing losses, the committee is going to see that MSU had to play a full strength Oregon team, versus one that has taken a lot of injuries, will be interesting to see how they play the rest of the year. Are they a week to week thing, or out for the season?

Not sure, and who knows what the playoff committee is going to think.
This whole playoff thing is starting to sour the season. It reminds me of the time I tried playing fantasy football and realized after a while that I was no longer enjoying the games because I was too focused on how my players were doing.
Re: Dammit Oregon
I don't think the Playoff thing is ruining the season. I think the fact that MSU has a chance to be in the conversation about playing for a NC, and 1 loss brought some of those expectations down has soured the season.
Look at it this way, if we went into the season expecting to be 2nd or 3rd in the East division or B1G, with a small chance of winning the division and playing in the conference championship everyone would be ecstatic about this season. The expectations are making the Playoffs though, or they were preseason. Think of how you were feeling before the Iowa game last year, and how you feel about the Nebraska game this year.
I'm sure there was a lot more handringing over the season, and whether or not Bollman and Roushar should even be on the staff. Then we beat Iowa, then the team looked like it was on a mission, then we held um to -47 yards, then we kicked O$U's ass. Expectations went from 5-3 in conference play to winning each game by double digits, with some downer games against Minny and Purdue.

Pretty funny that Rich Rod found greener pastures outside of A2.
I'd love to here him speak freely and off the record about all the BS in A2 and the pressure everyone put on him to be a Bo Schembechelr 'Michigan Man'.

I'm seeing that this year. I let my boy join my fantasy soccer league. When I tell him a certain team scored he used to ask if it was a good goal, now he just wants to know who got the assist.SeeRockCity wrote:

Re: Dammit Oregon
Their OL is wrecked, they can't protect Marioti, and Marioti is dinged up. Watched the game last night, he had no time to throw, and he was not moving at all like he was when we played.
And then their stud DE got hurt around halftime, before then, Az's O was held in check, once he went down, Az pounded on his side and gashed the hell out of their D.
Also, Oregon's DTs suck. Az blocked then 1-on-1 all night, made a huge difference. If they had 1 DT step up and demand double teams, they win.

I think this actually helps MSU. If everybody beats up in everybody and MSU dominates the B1G, its on. Go LSU and old Miss!!

Re: Dammit Oregon
They have USC in Zona next week. I'd say if they take care of business there, they at least deserve to be in the conversation as a playoff team. Will be interesting to hear how they do Sunday morning, lots of time to rest up, but can they play 2 good games in a row. Their game is at 10:30 EST and no way I'll make it through that on a Saturday.

I guess I'm not all that concerned about the playoff. All I'm concerned about is winning the big 10 in convincing fashion. The playoff will take care of itself as long as we keep winning.
