This. He's not wearing it for work. He will wear it for weddings and bullshit, but you take the coat off anyways and everyone is boozed up. He's not working some 6 figure job where he needs to maintain appearances.

If it's for weddings and shit, just go to Kohls and get pair of Dockers no-iron khakis $40.00 and a Dockers blue blazer $100. Then spend $80.00 for a shirt and tie from lands end.
