Alright people, let's just settle down here.
While I know that your email and this thread are tongue in cheek, there is some sense of urgency to the culling with a particular subset of posters on the site. I get that. But we really don't need to do this via vote. We can tweak the inactivity clause to suit our purposes which will allow us to carry the policy forward.
We have all the tools needed to do this, it's just a matter of when. We originally said let's wait for a complete football season which just happened as of last Thursday and everyone has been on vacation.
I will get back to my shockingly slow and frustratingly plodding analysis of the situation shortly.

Doing it via vote allowed people to post again if they wanted. Kind of a last ditch effort for them to keep their status. I don't think any did. And it generated some discussion as opposed to just getting rid of them in one fell swoop.
This was a serious process. I am disappointed in your reaction to it.

Didn't happen.
Moderators will serve a term of 6 months, and will then be automatically presented for revote. If the moderator does not gain the votes required to retain moderator status, they will be replaced by another via the established process. If no moderators can be found through the voting process, one will be appointed by the current Board Steward.

Careful what you wish for. By the letter of the law here, no existing mod would get the needed votes to continue on, and thus Nigel would get to appoint them all.
