Hey SeeRockCity, am I a legacy?

So, before I piss off a whole shit ton of posters, I wanted to make it clear to everyone what the requirements for legacy inclusion in the Gerousia are.  The goal is to be inclusive and include as many old guard posters as possible so that the community is fully represented (both good and bad), but not make it so that everybody is automatically in so it doesn't mean anything.

Getting a seat in the Gerousia here should mean something, but at the same time, not be so exclusive that the board becomes an old fart network that feels unapproachable to newbies.  So, I've decided to leave the legacy system open indefinitely, but tighten the requirements a bit so that we have the best of both worlds.  I think that this is fair, as if you are borderline, you should get voted in pretty easily provided you aren't a douche.  The board has been pretty open to new members and everyone here has been very accepting of new posters.  Suffice it to say that the requirements were pretty loose when we first opened the doors.  This was on purpose, but as the flood continued, I tried to be more selective but realized there was no good way to ensure fairness.  There aren't a lot of tools (except you guys) to use to validate that a poster was old so and so or has been around forever etc.

So here are the requirements (evaluated at the time of registration on the Swill):

• You must be a spartan.
  
• 40 months (on 247) and 2500+ posts is an easy call.  That means you came over in the initial move to the new board so you were obviously on the old board.
  
• 24 months (on 247) and 7500 posts or more without being a troll and you're in.
  
• Easily recognizable user from the vBulletin days.  There are a few, like Black Dutch, Forbin, etc. that were active but have decided not to post much on 247.
  
• Someone who is already a Geronte (and who is trustworthy), vouches for you as being an active poster in the vBulletin days (or before).  This can be done via PM or in a thread, whatever.
  
• If you change your username and you can confirm your identity at 247 with a pm to me, and you meet the other requirements, you're in.  But I WILL tell anyone who asks who you were.  I will get 20 pm's asking why the fuq I let "EatenByABear" into the Gerousia and I will tell every single one of them that you were old so and so and I confirmed it.
  

I also reserve the right to update the list if I realize I'm up a shit creek and need some additional ammunition.

Again, if you don't meet the requirements, get a sponsor.  If you were a good poster and recognizable, then I'm sure you should have no trouble getting in via the voting system.  And please don't be pissed off at me.  I'm just trying to please everybody.

You could also just post here and not give a shit about all that crap.  Fine with me.

Look, to be honest, I can't fucking WAIT, until the legacies have been completed and we get on to all voting. This whole "you're in, you're out" crap would sure as shit rub ME the wrong way if the shoes were on the other feet. Smacks a bit of some kind of power trip bullshit which is 100% opposite of what I'm trying to do here.

So this sounds like a Spartan version of the Illuminati, which sounds cool.  You do plan to take over the world right?  Or at least the internet?

I was Rodeo Burger on 247.  Only 34 months and 5100 posts, but I did start a BTP with my OP on the Deadspin story about Manti Teo's fake girlfriend (90 pages and about 108,000 views!).  I also created a YouTube login simply to troll BigSean.  I was always up for message board invasions on the ND sites, though I never had a user name as good as J-Claws Butt Plug (props to whoever that was).   I remember the good old days of invading the chat sessions of The Victors.

But alas, I'm so in the 10% that I didn't figure out where this board was until yesterday.   It's cool, I was a late arrival at 247 as well, I was too busy posting picture of poop on vBulletin after the mods had abandoned the place (no idea what my username was there though).

Anyway, just want to give props for those that set this place up, it has a good vibe.

So why didn't you just use Rodeo Burger here?

Yes, edge cases are tricky but as I said in the thread, you shouldn't have any trouble finding a sponsor and getting elected into the Gerousia. Check out the charter, lots of good info there. Welcome aboard!
