Damon dowdell was pretty horrible. I don't think he won a single game. Andrew maxwell was a huge bust.

Maxwell. He's took a Rose Bowl Champion-level team and made them struggle to be bowl eligible.

That's part of the problem. He was too nice and just seemed happy to be here. No tenacity.

For me it comes down to, can you really hate players during the Bobby and JLS years? It's clear they weren't getting much direction from their coaches.

But he did throw a TD pass first IIRC. And the D didn't have anything to do with it? We were up 24 well into the 2nd half IIRC.

I hated Schultz for ruining my early teenage years and Dowdell for being a contributor to bad teams and heartbreaking losses while I was at MSU. That being said, Maxwell is my least favorite. The teams those other guys played on were bad to mediocre with our without those guys. That 2012 team could have led to back-to-back Rose Bowls for this program if he had been serviceable. He also had, by far, the worst career stats of the three.

And OTPT, I also got into many arguments about Maxwell prior to last season. As I recall, the biggest Maxwell defenders were Rogue, Nigel, and Wingfanjim (who has to be related to Maxwell he defended him so staunchly). Rocky had his moments too.

You may want to look at the record book for MSU QB's. And consider his head coach and his love affair with the running game. It's amazing that Yarema is still top ten in nearly every QB stat in school history.

I think I defended the coaches selection of a QB. I don't think I nominated Maxwell for the September Heisman.

Hoyer seemed to over throw his receiver more than any other QB. He drove me crazy, but I didn't hate him. Dowdell would be my only hated QB.

As far as starters go - would go with Clark Brown (1983). Turrible qb and team. 4 wins, 4 td passes all year (9 int's). Best player on that team was punter Ralf Mojsiejenko.
