If tSwill has learned nothing else, it’s that we know we can count on you to do the work and get the job done.

I have a feeling in 2022 we flip a UofM recruit.

This is old news, Trapper. I think Nigel misses, Steve. Steve and Nigel were in a serious Internet friendship until Steve vanished under mysterious circumstances.

What’s left of Mel Tucker’s first recruiting class at Michigan State

With the exception of Coleman look at the schools the guys we lost went to. Fay? QB or TE at Oklahoma? It was hard sledding from February of that year for 11 months.

Yeah, Coleman is the only "concerning" loss from that class. The rest were MAC level departures at best.

Re: Do we need a class of 2021 FB recruiting thread?
Players want PT AND NIL’s that can increase. NIL is becoming as important as PT. Days of waiting/developing before playing without being paid are gone.
Hamp Fay is in Norman and probably going to be a TE rather than the QB he was recruiting as by Tucker. He couldn’t displace Thorn.
WR Coleman left for F$U will probably get both.
The rest of those who left are like the 100’s of football gypsies who leave the programs they initially signed with in hope of getting an opportunity play rather than practice.
Tucker’s got to right the ship but there are a lot of Power Five coaches in similar circumstances.

Losing 1/2 of a class that was ranked 46th (when we added a bunch of guys from the portal) isn't a big concern. I'd rather not have a trend of losing 1/2 of a class going forward though.

Re: Do we need a class of 2021 FB recruiting thread?
Not sure of the retention rate in this new era of football, but people who aren't playing in their third year and who really want to be playing are more likely to hit the portal.
Not to pretend I know what is going on down the road, but it seems to me that the "elite" school in A2 has had bunches of players leave since the portal started. As the players become better more will leave for playing time at MSU, too.
edit - Coleman is a nice receiver, and it would have been nice if he stayed, but MSU has other receivers and probably will be about as good without him.

They had 2 Captains leave. McNamara? OK. He's a QB. He wants to play. But the TE who left was a media darling during their 2021 season. His injury status and how UM treated him will surely be exposed in a Freep/News feature article. Some day. Never.

Each year the coaches have to put together a new playing group anyway, so in one way this is no different. In another way they can encourage the "dead wood" to leave and replace it with more potential. That coach at Colorado "gets" this.
