Recommend me a good laser measuring tool.
Needed for small jobs like measuring windows for blinds, certain areas of the home for new furniture, room sizes for paint amounts, etc. (The Vietnamese wife is motivated for a new look. I suggested she try a new husband who likes to do this stuff.)
No idea what I can expect to spend. TIA.

eh, just eyeball it. a good rule of thumb to use is: take the distance from the end of your index finger to your first knuckle, that's 6 inches.
and if you tell my wife any differently, I'll hunt you down.

So what do you use for objects longer than 1 inch?

Re: Recommend me a good laser measuring tool.
IIRC there are two basic types. The ones that project a dot, and the ones that can project a line. In the line category, there are the ones that just project a line, then the ones that spin and project a line in a 360 degree circle. They can also do everything the others can do.
In order of cost:
Point
Line
Circle
You also have self-leveling and manual leveling options.
The one that projects a line is probably adequate for anything you need to do.

I can't stand sd265 here on the board, there's no way I could put up with him IRL.

Those are levels, not measurers.
Use a tape measure. If you really want a an electronic laser measurer, just peep Amazon and pick something with good reviews.

You're right, my bad. I misread the thread title. And by misread, I mean I read it several times and saw what I wanted to see and not what was actually written there.

Thanks. I'll check amazon. The only reason I'm looking at a laser measure is I don't trust my eyesight right now, and my prescription lenses need updating. Those damn 8ths and 16ths are tiny but important when measuring for blinds.

Hope you didn't drop ~$250 on my recommendation. If so, sorry

Been using Leicas in my line of work for the past 7+ years. They are rock solid and about as accurate as you can get.tGreenWay wrote:Needed for small jobs like measuring windows for blinds, certain areas of the home for new furniture, room sizes for paint amounts, etc. (The Vietnamese wife is motivated for a new look.
