Anyone looking for a hotel room, do what we did in 2010. Rent a RV. There's a RV park about 15 minutes outside of town. It was a blast. Park your "hotel room" for the weekend and use Uber/cabs to get into town and back.

We actually joked about the RV thing. My friends did that in 2000 and went cross country to the Rose Bowl. The stories from that trip make me laugh just thinking about them. Safe to say they will never do that again, but this trip is a hell of a lot easier than Pasadena.

Yeah, it's a breeze for a short trip like that (both duration and mileage-wise). Might have started to regret it a bit if we wound up staying until Tuesday morning, but it was just fine. You can even get the shit-tastic Cruise America RV for a short jaunt like that. We road tripped to Lincoln the following year and got a nice one from General RV, which was a huge upgrade. It's actually a lot of fun, I would do it again in a heartbeat if I weren't tethered to my house for the time being.

VRBO/airBnB weren't quite as big of a thing in 2010 as they are now, definitely worth a look. I do remember someone advertising a nice condo downtown but they wanted like 4k for the weekend iirc.
