Mark D'Antonio, "We're game ready" - tSwill Writing Staff
Three weeks after spring practice started, coach Mark D'antonio thought his team looked "game ready" and after the first spring scrimmage, he hasn't changed his stance.
"We're game ready," he said Tuesday. "I think we can go out and play a game tomorrow. I think we have enough players to be able to do that. We worked hard on special teams and things of that nature.
"Are we going to play well enough to win a championship? Not right now. But we are game ready and we can play."
Everyone nodded their head as they held their microphones up to get them closer to his mouth where the sound was coming from. Several football things were happening in the background as the team and support personnel did "spring football related activities" in the practice area. It was also chilly and somewhat windy as this reporter listened intently to what coach had to say about the receivers,
"Offense is looking good, have seen a lot from our receivers, Maderis, Burbridge, Troup, have looked good, and Arnette has looked good, I guess you could throw in Barksdale, and Aiello and Guster and Kilgore, they've been impressive and Macksood, and Makaric, also Shelton, oh and Sims, and throw Sowards in there, they made some plays and have looked good, and Kings has shown some flashes" Dantonio said as a dejected Austin Wolfe looked on from the tire drill line. "I guess you have to throw a couple linemen in there as well, they've looked good catching the ball."
No one really knows what the season will bring with Pat Narduzzi now the head coach at Louisville. Questions have been raised about the defense and whether is will be as good as it has been in the past.
Tom Izzo won his 7th final four.
