Spartan Swill Turns 1 Today - Spartan Swill Staff Writers

I sit in the same chair as SeeRockCity and watch him typing this through his own eyes.  I can almost feel his fingers typing... click - click - click - click - backspace - backspace - backspace - click - backspace - backspace - click - click - backspace - backspace - backspace - page down (shit) - pause .....- page up - click -click - click.

It was a chilly April morning just like this (morning not right now which afternoon) when SeeRockCity saw the mess that had become his home on the internet and asked himself the question, "I wonder how much work it would be to start a new message board?", and 5 minutes later, tSwill was born.

Let's be honest, The original swill was a grease fire.  The lack of cohesion (hell, the graphics alone were eye watering), the disorganization, the lack of posters, all conjured images of a row boat fighting against a raging hurricane, but she floated.  

By God she floated.

Like every small boat in a storm she began to fill but as I write this, struggling to string more than two sentences together to make a paragraph, a tear is running down my cheek because I remember looking up during that storm and suddenly seeing Heat there bailing with me.  So we bailed together and as we bailed we started looking around and seeing others, bailing.  There on the port bow, there's Floyd and he started bailing, then Rocinante, and Nigel, and Turtleneck, and tGreenway, and Goose and tTito, and Moose, and LWS, and Snake, and Travis, Tanfan, Blanch, Dude, hey there's tTy, and WBH  and Nordic,  Strangelove, Martin, Queso/Townie  and Shrimp for fucks sake, Miami, Nommad, Dime, Schneider, OTPT, JEK, goodbar, pantry, xsanguine, blitz, Herbie Green,  Cameron, some idiot named Ruckus, pinky, keith stone, pylon, cym, tig, death roe, mental, InTenSity, Ass Dan, WBill, Gomer, By-Tor.  Hey look, there's Duffy, and DWags,  Ricard, Kazamias,  GRR, pulling, AM, Dendro, even f orbin, now Fletch and Motown, and JP (who fell off the boat, sorry), Phil, Brock, Y2K, Chitown, Jiza, Wally, SawGreen,  Brogan, Kingston,  NH, Burger, Jake, Cosmo, Code Warrior, MSUJoe, Beal, HT, Cheesey, Wakefield, Stoops, Styles my man, Phil, Zapp and too many more to count (sorry bitches, I got tired rolling through the user list).   All bailing.  There's Bob, eating a sandwich.

And we bailed.

And then some posters bailed.

But we lived on and became the best damn MSU message board on the Internet.  

A very special thanks to all of you who have made this place great.  Please don't quit.  Keep bailing and pretty soon, our boat will be filled with beautiful assholes and we WILL, no we SWILL achieve Internet Message Board Glory!

There was another poster that always said unless you were from Detroit and lived in the city, you were some over privileged suburbanite that did not have the right to wear Tigers, Lions, Wings gear. Not sure how he felt about the Pistons since they do not play in the city.

I personally think we need a bit of notoriety to become bigger. Like maybe a murder among members, or perhaps if one of you guys could evade paying your taxes or come up with some kind of fraud scheme and then get caught. Maybe some real overt racism followed by a legitimate fight and hospitalization of a member, I'm thinking the black guy should win and the white guy should go to the hospital and then the black guy goes free and we say "what if it was the other way around?". Do we have any black guys on the board?

Would any of you guys be willing to marry another guy? I don't think that would be that big of a deal, but it would be interesting.

By the way, do any of you know why they sell "Warranties" with caskets? Seriously. That's a legit question. Seriously, I just purchased one today and it has a 5 year on it. Somebody give me a reason. I really need to know.

I feel that way about people that grew up in Lansing like I did. I had a friend give another friend shit for liking an NFL team that was not the Lions and his reasoning was that you should root for your hometown team. I told him that our only "hometown" team is MSU... we aren't from Detroit, so we don't have any hometown teams when it comes to professional sports. The "hometown" team thing does extend to the suburbs, imo, as the suburbs are just the direct residential support structure of the city that houses these teams. Lansing isn't a Detroit suburb, though, so it has nothing to do with it other than being in the same state. As far as professional sports is concerned, those of us in Lansing are free agents without any expected allegiances in professional sports.

That guy you're talking about sounds much weirder than my philosophy on it, though. So what about the Pistons... you need to be from Auburn Hills or grew up there to be a Pistons fan?
