I wouldn't put EL at the top of the list, and Madison is a great college town, but State College and Bloomington are ranked higher than EL? That's how I know the list is a complete joke.

No. News article about sports stuff. Not clickbait. List ranking of every college town by some silly measure. Clickbait.Other Teams Pursuing That wrote:Travis of the Cosmos wrote:I need all of clickbait! It feeds me. I consume it. I need to click. Give me lists. Give me rankings. Give me slideshows. But I don't even care because I love clickbait so much. I get off to it. I dream about it. I wonder what it would be like to be on a list of message board poster crushes.

I like how MSU is pretty much East Lansing. It's like our own little world. I don't think I'd be the biggest fan of the U being swallowed up by a city like in Ann Arbor.

Well I don't know how the figured out the rankings, but when I went to MSU it was magical. On Friday you'd just walk down a street, any street with a plastic cup and there was a house party which meant girls and alcohol. I don't even recognize the place after it became a police state.

BTW, OTPT I saw Dantonio is hoping that 50k fans turn out for spring practice. Let me tail gate and if the ELPD lays back a little bit and lets Spartan nation party I'd consider coming back for it. Until that day comes, sorry I have other things to do.

Re: "EL sucks"
I'll say it; I think this list is more or less accurate.
1. Anyone that's been to Madison knows that it is king of college towns, probably nationally.
2. Ann Arbor has a bunch of cultural bullshit and unique bar scene that EL doesn't have.
3. State College is in the mountains and is unbelievable gorgeous, very clean town too. It's like EL Premium Edition
4. Columbus is a big city, has lots of night-life, although I don't think it's better than Bloomington.
5. Bloomington is an idyllic college town, the bar scene is great, and the town is just a bit nicer than EL
6. Iowa City, I've never been, but everyone seems to love it. Questionable if it's better than EL.
7. Evanston probably sucks, but when you're a 30 minute train ride to north side bars and you are on the banks of lake Michigan....that's awesome.
8. East Lansing is still an up and coming town. There needs to be more growth along Grand River, and the bar scene, aside from the HopCat and Crunchy's is super generic. There's nothing like MASH or the Blind Pig in EL. I never realized how shit MSU bars are (excluding the previously mentioned two) until I moved away.
9. Minneapolis is a giant city, and probably could be ranked higher, I know UMN is close to a lot of high crime areas though
10. Lincoln, I haven't been there since I was 5, so who knows.
11. College Park seems like a nice place but I've never been.
12. Champaign BLOWS. I'm living there now. The bar/restaurant scene is excellent but everything else absolutely sucks. Crappy layout, ugly buildings, ugly surrounding landscapes, Illini pride is non-existent. It's truly a sad and depressing place. I have heard multiple people who went to UofI undergrad also bitch about Champaign and UofI in general. The worst part is everyone forgets U of I exists, including the people who go here.
13. New Jersey, LOL
14. West Lafayette - See Illinois, but remove the bars and restaurants.
EDIT: I think these rankings would change a lot if you were only talking about the Campus.

This right here. This isn't a bunch of college kids/partiers ranking which college town they like the best. It's media members ranking which town that also has a B1G school in it they like the best.
For just about anyone with or without an MSU bias, a town like Ann Arbor, Columbus, or Madison blows EL out of the water. EL is a dinky little town with a few chains, some drunk food stops and some dingy college bars that are near and dear to our hearts. Those towns are much bigger, have a lot more going on than just University activity. More dining options, more tourist options, more bars, more culture, etc etc. Of course they're going to rank higher to these media members who breeze through town.
MSU IS East Lansing, like OTPT said. I've said it before EL (imo) is a better "college town" than AA. But AA is a way better town as a whole.

It probably would be if everyone that worked there didn't leave town at 5:00 every day. There's really nothing there to keep anyone interested in sticking around.

Yep, NYC the laws are lax. I could come back to el and break a law without even being aware of it. Not worth it going to jail over something that is cool every where else.

Problem with Lansing is that it's the capital of cheap skates as well. People don't shell out the cash for finer dining or entertainment.
