Whad'ya know about pipe bursting?
Not to be confused with pipes bursting. I'm thinking about having it done at one of my places. It's double the cost of the typical trench dig/sewer replacement, but far less invasive.
Any thoughts or experience on this or any other topic?

As for other topics, I now know that goats can replace your Toro.
You are welcome.

I admit to having had reservations about adding that. I would hate for this thread to usurp the Random Thoughts thread.

I'm unwilling and unable to accept the Cubs, Mets, Pirates, Royals, Blue Jays and maybe the Astros in the baseball playoffs. The world is a scary place these days.
Also, it's cold and I don't like it.

The MLB postseason makes no sense to me this year, either. And the only thing I hate more than the cold is the 5-6 months of gray. I love Michigan, but it ain't easy sometimes.

Re: Whad'ya know about pipe bursting?
How old is the house?
What is the material (4"?)
Have you had the line CCTVed (videoed) to ensure the pipe you are bursting doesn't have any bellies in it?
Have you checked into the permit requirements? I'm assuming you'll have to do a lot of staging in the ROW for this.
And what's the problem you're trying to solve anyway? If you have enough capacity, the slope is good (no bellies), why don't you just have the pipe lined? Google cured in place pipe lining. Less invasive and easier to mobilize then bursting even.

Excellent questions to ask, Gomer, thank-you! I know there's at least one belly in the existing line, but not sure how big. The house is ~70 y.o. Spent lots of money over the last 10 years having roots removed, including the super-most-excellent hydra smasher. One guy told me part of the line is collapsing. The guy who came this week never mentioned it.
As for regs, that's all to be answered. EL can be tricky with its rules.
I'm leaning heavily toward the standard trench replacement + cement floor cutout in the basement. I just don't see the upside to doubling the cost just to avoid the front yard invasion that everyone in this neighborhood will eventually experience.
