Vietnam era rock soundtrack suggestions.
I'm in the shit at work today and need to rock it old school to keep me steeled for battle.
I've already got my Creedance, Stones, and Jimi covered; and even some Simon and Garfunkel to mellow things out. But what else should I put on my playlist?

Bob Seger "2 plus 2 is on my mind."
Lennon "Imagine"
Get your funk on with Marvin Gaye, "What's going on"
Country Joe: "Feel like I'm fixin to die"
and of course the classic "For What it's worth" Buffalo Springfield

Re: Vietnam era rock soundtrack suggestions.
possibly the greatest anti-military complex, anti-war profiteer song ever written..
You fasten all the triggers
For the others to fire
Then you set back and watch
When the death count gets higher
You hide in your mansion'
As young people's blood
Flows out of their bodies
And is buried in the mud.

From the time capsule
Feel like I'm fixin to die rag - Country Joe and The Fish.
Four Tops and Temptations . That era was classic Motown

The soundtrack to this doc is spectacular and well worth the watch. Alice Cooper 18, Love Signed DC, Tim Buckley, Frankie Valley...it's all on there.
Disclaimer: its a depressing, I wouldn't watch this if you are dealing with something heavy in life (illness, loss of job, divorce, refs screwing us over against Nebraska).

Not really in line with the thread, but I really like A Perfect Circle's take on Imagine. Maynard takes this song in a completely different direction.

I was a child of a hippy mom and an open minded father who loved football. As they were both teachers, we were drug around the country every summer. Sometimes east, sometimes west, sometimes north and south.
I remember the "Colored people" drinking fountains down south. and "Whites only" restaurant signs my father wouldn't let us eat in. Clear as day. I was born in 61 and my first memories were of the stop signs in my town all had "they war" stamped underneath them. I remember my mom crying when King and Bobby got shot and killed and making us pray that morning. I remember watching the news and seeing the "kill" scores each night and thinking we won or lost that night based on the amount of kills. It was a weird existence back then.

Im not a huge fan, but he wanted some mellow too. I thought of Marvin Gaye and Lennon. Upbeat I thought of Seger, and Country Joe, inbetween I thought Buffalo Springfield. But I'm not a big fan either.

Re: Vietnam era rock soundtrack suggestions.
You want Vietnam? I'll give you Vietnam.
And it's one, two, three, what are we fighting for?
Don't ask me, I don't give a damn
Next stop is Vietnam
And it's five, six, seven, open up the pearly gates
Well, ain't no time to wonder why,
Whoopee! we're all gonna die

But for those of my generation this is a development - I like it.

A U.S. Aircraft Carrier Anchors Off Vietnam For The First Time Since The War
"It was a U.S. initiative to request the carrier visit," says Carl Thayer, a Vietnam scholar and emeritus professor at the University of New South Wales, Canberra. "It was mentioned in a presidential statement [by President Trump]. And Vietnam has taken a deep breath and decided that it's worth the risk to bring an American carrier there because of China's unrelenting militarization."
The USS Carl Vinson, a nuclear-powered aircraft supercarrier, came along with a cruiser and a destroyer — with more than 6,000 sailors on board. It will spend four days in Danang.
The site is heavy with symbolism. It's the same port city where U.S. combat troops first landed to support South Vietnam's fight against the communist north in March 1965.
It's also the closest Vietnamese city to the disputed islands and waters of the South China Sea — or the East Sea, as Vietnam calls it.
"The USS Carl Vinson is the mightiest warship afloat," Thayer says. "It brings along with it escort ships with more firepower than China can assemble in all of its seven artificial islands or even [its] South Sea Fleet, basically. So it's a massive display of military might."
