Re: To cut costs, Flint poisons its residents with lead
It's funny that Snyder supporters have dug up a person who wants to make comparisons to folks who were exposed to lead paint to draw a "safer" comparison.
It's not been that long since a Lansing company stopped using their historical name Silver Lead.

I can't believe he even has supporters. Outside of Michigan he has zero credibility.
Make Michigan great again, give Snyder the boot.

Just curious how the DCWD are the true culprits?
Genesee County faced the same situation and decided to pay to keep DCW, Flint (or more correctly the emergency financial manager of Flint) decided that they wouldn't wait the 2+ years for the new water pipe and that they wouldn't pay Detroit anymore for their water. This was 100% a money decision, DCWD played the part of the entity willing to sell water to Flint, Flint played the part of not wanting to pay that much.

I saw something somewhere where DCWD wanted a 30 year contract with Flint if they wanted to reconnect to the water. Flint was already in the process of building their new pipeline so they told DCWD to f off.

Don't these politicians know how to negotiate? Fuck!!!! Should have called me and we'd get this sorted out.
....and why doesn't flint already have its own water source? You think this would have been done in the 50s

Pearl Jam has jumped on board in the aid to help Flint with its water crisis.
On Friday, the rock band pledged $125,000 to the United Way of Genesee County, according to a release from the band’s management. Additionally, a network of the group’s friends and partners — including Live Nation, the group’s record label Republic Records, Universal Music Publishing Group, William Morris Endeavor Entertainment, Glaser Progress Foundation, Brandi Carlile’s Looking Out Foundation and the group’s one-time foes Ticketmaster — chipped in an additional $175,000, bringing the total donation to $300,000.
The band has also launched a CrowdRise campaign for fans to donate money to Flint through the website crowdrise.com/pearljam.
Funds will go toward the United Way of Genesee County’s Flint Water Fund, which aids in both the short- and long-term needs of the Flint community.
Earlier this week, Big Sean also launched a CrowdRise campaign to help those in Flint

It was probably cheap enough at the time to tie into Detroit's system. Since then the costs have skyrocketed, probably due to legacy costs of having to pay lifetime pensions to the thousands of friends and relatives of Detroit politicians that gave them do nothing jobs
The Flint area has watermains out in the middle of nowhere that were put in a long time ago, probably as a make work program.

Hedman resigned. As she should. My guess is that she tried to bury it too and kept it from her superiors. We'll see if the mess stops with her. I kind of doubt it though

He may be an idiot, but he's not as dumb as Snyder!
Our Mayor is a one term mayor too, but I don't think he's as bad as the papers make him out to be. Should have elected Carlos Danger!

My .02 he's just maintaining the status quo which isn't a bad thing for this town. He isn't as visible as Bloomberg. The cops, Post and Daily News HATE him. I think they are a bit over board with him.
What's got you worked up about Cuomo, if you don't mind me asking.

Ha! I think he's alright. The cops still f'n hate him. I worked with a lady that is married to a cop and weekly on FB she posts meme's that rips hip. I work with this Irish guy that knows a bunch of cops and he can't stand him. I really don't think he's that bad though.
I moved here during the end of Giuliani and he was easily the least popular mayor during my time here. This was prior to 9/11.

You are not kidding about Giuliani, once the crime was cleaned up people were tired of his shit. That perception changed in one day though. I don't know if you remember Bloomberg's campaign, but he literally came out with a bunch of commercials that said he was going to run the town exactly like Giuliani and keep NY safe. He surged in the polls and won it easily.

I missed those, I didn't move there until 2005.
Giuliani was pretty bad ass as US attorney in the 80's against the mafia. Joe Pistone has a lot of respect for him for the way he handled it but up to and just after I moved there Giuliani couldn't get through a conversation without mentioning how he was mayor on 9/11. Seems to be the natural progression for successful politicians, unfortunately.

Flint's a major story and some here want to discuss NY governors and NYC mayors.
Flint is a failure on multiple levels and our fearless governor is desperately trying to flip the blame to the DEQ and throw some more civil servants under the bus.

It's okay to multi-task, GRR. Pretty sure the residents of Flint aren't sobbing at the thought of two anonymous internet posters who share a city in common on an MSU sports message board.
Did your captain send you down here to police the thread? And is that captain's name Bernard Kerik?

Just like Obama said he no idea about what was going on at the IRS targeting conservatives? Class act by a President to throw those employees under the bus. However, lets blame the current governor for Flint being a poor ass city that is like Detroit. It's in financial ruin and the city can only blame it's self. Citizens should be outraged at a number of people but the governor sure as hell isn't one of them.

Not to mention all the tea party fanatics in the state that have his back. I don't know what to say, I've come to realize nothing much will happen about this problem. Bunch of angry white males that don't give a flying f and the message i've heard from them is tough shit Flint you did this to your self.
