I wonder if a small part of Cruz's decision was simply not wanting to play Trump's game. Cruz fell for it hook, line, and sinker today. Cruz removed himself from a discussion about the issues in favor of a personal back-and-forth.

Maybe Cruz reflected on his own words and decided he didn't want to be a part of it or put his family through it. Why continue to take the personal shots and put your family in front of Trump? Why lower yourself to Trump's level by responding in kind while having no path to the nomination outside of a multiple ballot convention? Probably was not worth it to Cruz. He will go back to the Senate and help box in President Trump.

Trump has essentially dismantled every single GOP hopeful systematically, starting with Jeb. Jeb got punked by Trump and looked incredibly foolish trying to play Trump's game. Cruz learned the hard way and, frankly, I'm not really sure that there was anything he could have done. The people love Trump. I pray that he doesn't win the presidency.

There's been several times now where his whole election has put me in states of shock. I really think our empire is unraveling, and it's pretty damn frightening. I really think a bunch of people are just going to have to fight back the disgust they have over Hillary and pull the lever for her. We'll all have to regroup in 2020 and try to do better.
