Looks like you can cut that bill by $100 a month if you can get your daughters to elope.

I have some sympathy that the family plan is probably the cheapest deal, but I have a kid making good money wanting to get the new Note ($860ish) and I told him to get what he wants, but don't send me the bill.
I'm on the hook through college and then we'll see.

Jesus - we're about $220 with two adults and the older kid on the ATT unlimited plan and thought we were getting raped. Was about to switch to T-Mobile for around $120 for 6gb each, plus unlimited streaming on most sites. Coverage here seems fine - anyone have experience with them?

Definitely not enough GB. Hell ,I'm 10 by myself!
$84 a month per person sounds like a bargain. Especially if that includes the phone itself

You and Wags have choices - honestly up here Sprint sucks. Verizon is by far the best, with AT&T a distant 2nd.

My kids started paying their way in the 22-24 year old range depending on circumstances. My daughter and SiL are on my plan but they fork over the $90 every month for their phones.
...and I'm the problem. Lol.
Been paying my my cell bill since 1997. Never once asked the parents to chip in, then again, they raised me to be independent and are not control freaks

Dwags, don't you have wifi?
I have 4gb for 3 people. If I had to pay much more than that I would switch to Tmobile or some shit. Or I might kill myself which still might happen when I add a 4th phone.
I don't know if am crazy or everyone else is but I refuse to be like everyone else where every 10 year old kid has to have a $800 phone and 5gb of data.

Still have to pay $20 per phone plus the $45 for unlimited everything. So it's really $65 per phone.

I just think you have to be careful, kids, even 17 year olds, don't have the reasoning capacity of adults and can easily get themselves in trouble.
I was lucky, when my kids were that age, the craze was just texting, smart phones were just getting rolling.

Re: My verizon Bill.........
It's tough when it comes to something like a phone and their friends are calling/texting each other. Fortunately, the friends of my daughter (almost 11yo) aren't all that into it yet. About half have phones, half don't, and the ones that do, aren't always on them. Had the school carnival this weekend, and her friends were barely touching their phones, but of course the teenagers are nearly running into people because they're nose is in their phone. So I know it's coming. She does have a $100 wifi tablet that Santa brought her the year before last for e-books, games, Netflix, etc. While we put Skype and a free texting app on there, my wife and I are the only ones with her ID/text number.DWags wrote:Herbie Green wrote:Dwags, don't you have wifi?

AT&T just sent us an email that healthcare workers can get 25% off the new unlimited plans. We can sign up for the Elite Unlimited, which includes HBO Max and tethering, along with talk and text in North America and texting to 120 countries. 100gb a month, 30 gb of tethering and we'll save about $30-40 a month from what we're paying now.

Dear Heat Miser,
While sitting in that cushy, overly expensive Herman Miller chair (we all paid for) can you please get off your ass for a few seconds and add the year to the timestamp on threads and posts?
Thanks!

I see the year. You don't? Maybe check your preferences?
EDIT: check your date format in your profile. Think you need to be in desktop mode to access those settings.

Thanks, Heat! Â Always figured the no year thing was a built-in quirk to tSwill. Â Didn't know it was a personal setting. Â Is no year a default setting?Heat Miser wrote:The Pantry wrote:Dear Heat Miser,

Second time today a time thing has blown my mind. Â Changed out one my monitors at work early this morning. Â No idea what happened but everything on my computer slowed down, even the clock at the bottom right of the screen. Â Really weirded me out how slowly time was passing. Â Was sorta like an episode of the Twilight Zone until I looked at my cell phone. Â Computer said it was 7:10 am when it was actually 8:18. Â Reboots would update the computer clock but it would keep losing time at only 20% of real time. Â Never saw anything like it. Â Got our IT guy to look at the situation. Â He disabled the graphics card and the clock went into what looked like hyperspeed, jumping erratically forward many seconds at a time. Â Updated the driver and everything went back to normal. Â Again, I've fucked with computers going all the way back to the keypunch card days at MSU...never saw anything like what I did today.

No year was the default in the early days when everyone first joined. I changed it a few weeks in but that changed didn't overwrite existing users. I'm sure the date thing is in a "welcome/tips & tricks" thread that isn't stickied anymore & I can't find.

I think TN and GW might want to strongly consider a move back to the other board. I think their brand of humor is more of that speed and can't be fully appreciated here. It's criminal, really. Just not fair to them or the other board.

Re: My verizon Bill.........
Not to get off topic here, but I stopped by the store and got everything sorted out.
They had to make a few changes, but basically my bill is going to drop from around $215 to $175 or less, depending on taxes and stuff. We an tether and get the new HBOMax sub included. I'm thinking that this plan is not going to stick around long, maybe I"m wrong, but as long as there is nothing hidden then I'm good with it.
Funny thing as well is that the internet plan I have is giving me a $20 discount for having directv or the online version of it, which I cancelled about 6-9 months ago or longer. I'm still receiving the discount. The people in the store said not to touch it because its getting applied still and might just run forever, since it never discontinued when I cancelled the TV service portion.
