I think he'd be better off at this point coming up with some plan to improve race relations (or say that he'll serve on a task force, or something), and then announce that he'll stand for the anthem going forward.

Yeah, he's making quite a broad generalization (not that I'm not immune to doing the same thing). But nationalist symbolism and all the pomp and circumstance over "the nation" is dumb, imo. So while I kind of gave a puzzled look at his explanation it's a preseason football game. Seems the "be offended by everything" crowd isn't just relegated to the millenials.

I think he did that by endorsing the black lives matter movement. So he's already endorsed reparations, free education only for racial minorities (not sure if Asians are included), free housing and health care for minorities, self imposed segregation, minimum living wage for minorities, etc. That's his answer to fixing race relations.

Seems like it would work. What do you think?

Kaepernick signed a 6 year $114M contract with $61M guaranteed in 2015 after getting $645K / $3.02M signing bonus as a 2nd rd draft choice.

Tomi Lahren is probably more angry about working at the low rung of broadcasting while a guy with whom she disagrees with can walk away with $60M+ if he gets cut and no other team picks up his guaranteed money a very nice parting gift.

Kaepernick isn't quiting. He's not walking away like Calvin Johnson did voluntarily. The 49'ers are on the hook for his salary which would make him the highest paid clip board guy in the league if they keep him and he doesn't start. If they cut him they are still obligated for his contract's guaranteed money unless another team picks him up.
